any kind of paint will work, the most important thing is the clearcoat when you're finished.
here is my M1 my friend painted:

all of the painting is just on coat of freehand he did in about 15 minutes. but i put 4 coats of clear on it afterwards.

I used krylon and my board is holding up fine. I just spraypainted it, then put a couple layers of clearcoat on. It has some dings in it from rocks bouncing up and hitting the deck but that's not a big deal.

Loaded dervish flex 2, randal rII's pink zig zags, Rayne isis GFT trucks black zombie hawgs. but combined with my bf our board rack has also a kebbek smoothcut also with GFT trucks and lime bigzigz, a cut smoothcut (aka shortcut) with randall rII's and 84mm hawgs, a homemade 18" mini board and a homemade pin tail not set up.
