Wanted to know If any one has one or know much about them. I've been playing around with one and I only need a hundred or so more dollars til I can buy. Whats with that blue dot problem?

I cant say i have personally used any of the handy cam style cameras that are comming out recently, i do know if i was to get one in this pricerange id go with the Panasonic hdc tm700k 60p 1080 on a handy cam is legit... I would deffanatly look into it alot more though, the CNet reviews are always a good place to start for doing research.

Sony's consumer video cameras (all their video cameras actually...) are way overpriced.  Check out the equivalent canon or panasonic models.  You won't regret it.  As mentioned above the Panasonic HDC TM700 is an awesome camera.  It shoots 1080/60p which is pretty awesome for skiing.  It also has a focus ring, and 3- 1/4 inch chips.  I know you mentioned that you really are interested in this Sony camera, but this panasonic is cheaper and a much better value.

I just wanted to bump this and say I have had it and used it well for around a month. It is extremely sick and soo high def. I would reccomend it to anyone. I paid 1230$ for it and I have an Opteka fisheye and Century Optics death lense. It has a 8 second slow motion capture and there is a slight quality and color loss but it is still hd quality. If your considering this camera don't hesitate, it is truly amazing. Hope it keeps running like it is.

haha no your an idiot. Dvx would cost way more in the long run because of tapes and it's not even high def. Plus this cam has soo many features that a Dvx does not have.

zomg leik i love dat HD and leik DVX has leik no features i just film on auto or maybe even WB off off blue so i get dat golden colorz. i evne leiks some night vision so usaful. lol nvm im just gonna byu a gopro

your just making yourself look stupid...And my friend had a DVX and I wasn't crazy about it. Plus you probably just reccomended a DVX because they're a huge hand held skate camera and you can put on a huge death lense and all the trendwhore shit.

Are people making feature films on your camera? They are still on a DVX. Please, you can be stoked on and proud of your camera and that's fine, but don't make yourself look stupid.

Should've done more research homie. Most, if not all free editing programs won't handle files like that - when they come onto your computer they're changed to ProResHD, kind of a bitch to work with.

GL mang, but you may be stuck converting. I don't know much about AVCHD other than that its a bitch.

AVCHD's a pain in the ass, you said you got a computer a few days ago, hopefully you got one that can handle avchd files smoothly, at least 4gig ram core, dup core, 2.8ghz, good graphics card, and a 64 bit os
if not you are going to be miserably trying to edit footage

FCP and FCE i found are the easiest to use avchd files in< Log and transfer...super easy
other wise dude you could use sony vegas if you have a pc, there's a free torrent  link on NS, just search sony vegas 7 and you will find it, and it works...

since you have a sony camera, vegas 7 will handle your avchd files(7 only handles sony avchd)

I don't know the specs on this computer but the files uploaded and play really smooth and don't glitch or skip so I guess it can handle them. Im getting a macbook in august and it comes with FCE so that should be good as you said it works well. Also, whats a multi card reader?

thanks man. I more or less just set my tripod up. I didn't really go more any sick angles or crazy shots cause I barely knew these kids, and wasn't planning on making a edit.
