IOS 4.0 for iphone/ipod/ipad

Thoughts? i have been waiting to update my iphone for so long since i never got around to jailbreaking it. i love the new OS. so smooth and much needed features were added.

Makes sense though. My first generation iPod touch is jailbroken and I run Backgrounder and ProSwitcher. It's more elegant, it is full multitasking rather than being limited to only a few APIs and it works on any jailbroken iOS device. However, it stutters on my iPod. There's simply not enough RAM or processing power to deal with this. I completely understand their move, and I'm planning on upgrading to one of the 4th generation iPod touches once they come out in September.

If you need a multitasking solution, ProSwitcher + Backgrounder + jailbreak is your best option, in reverse order.

yep i had mine jailbroken, it does lag though on the first gen so i said fuck it and its solely music now. no apps either cause i ran outta room for mmusic.

When will we start seeing apps that make use of the new APIs??? i wanna see apps that are on on jailbroken ones like in-app SMS and shit. maybe new skins and stuff for the ipod or something i have no clue

i have it. and have had it for weeks. i got the developer gold edition so its the same thing so ive had a lot of experience with it. i thought a ton of new apps would be releaseed today with the actual update but i guess not.

the 3g got jipped out of a ton of the new features. all we got was the ability to make folders, and that's it. we didn't even get the homescreen backgrounds

I'm honestly considering a 128GB if they do release one as expected. I could go for 16 times the storage. And with dual cameras (possibly with FaceTime), the A4 chip and (HD?) Radio all highly likely, they're gonna have a hard time not convincing me to pick one up. Release a Verizon iPhone at the September event, and I'd probably just go for that in a 32GB model and keep my 1G iPod touch for just music or video. It's difficult because with so much of your storage now being taken up by apps, you have a lot less space for music, video, and photos.

well lets see..it took me a few days to figure out how to do folders. where u drag an app over another app and it makes a folder. to zoom in the camera u need to tap the screen then a slider will show up. if u go to setting-general-network thats where u can find the internet tethering which is pretty cool in the car. but theres really not many tricks or anything its all pretty straight forward. double tap to access multitasking and always to the very left is the ipod controls including a thing that shuts off the accelerator so u can use ur phone when lying down.

The update sucked! apple is dumb although i love them.
No back ground wallpapers on a 3g...it can handle it ..same with multitasking trust me I was just doing it with the jailbreak.
what ever im going to get an ipad. make the apps worth while

so when I load the new os and try to restore as my existing phone, I don't get any service. there isn't an issue if I restore as a new phone, but as soon as I start putting any apps on it, it goes back to saying no service. advice?

Just got my iPod 2g fucked over because of 4.0, and it took me 30+ hours of me watching my music go on via iTunes. Good Job Apple. Now i'm hearing 2g won't handle a lot of the upgrades? That really blows. Apple has been getting progressively worse with everything they do in my book. I'm rethinking my MacBook Pro thoughts. Honestly iTunes should have been done adding my music back in less than 2 hours. USB 2.0 handles 10 mb/s. I did some calculations and my iTunes is using .0006% of USB 2.0 capability. Nice Job. Well done Apple. My computer is fast too. Trust me.

haha is it just me or does having an iPod suck unless you have an apple computer. It runs way smoother on mac then it does on windows. Couldn't they atleast try to make it better for windows? Haahha whatever though I'm selling the last of my apples products very soon.

i just updated for my 3g and it legit does just about nothing

the home screen apps have a black background instead of grey now, and things run a little bit quicker but its hardly noticable, and i find my texting lags like hell now

if you ask me its a waste of time for the 3g, they left out all the good features of ios4 ex running multiple apps and switching the background on the home screen, what a rip theres no legitimate reason for leaving out that second one

I finally got mine to work with the 3g and I hate it. my phone randomly crashes and I can't get service anywhere. such bullshit. I'm done with iphones for now.
