How many of you have jobs?

i searchbarred for this, and nothing came up, so i figured i would share my thoughts with the NS community. when i was 14 years old i got my first job at a fruit stand at the end of my road. i would work spring summer fall and they closed for the winter, letting me ski my lil heart away until spring again. i did this for 3 years, then worked as a lifeguard then park crew.

what i am getting at here is that i have had a job ever since i was old enough to work. now, looking back at all the high school and even college kids, many of them have never had a job. when i began tp drive, i had buy my own car, buy my own car insurance when i turned 18, and pay for gas.i have to buy all my ski gear, buy my pass, etc etc. however, as i look back, i just see parents forking over checks for this and credit cards for that. i am in no way jealous or angry, because the kids are the ones at a loss here seeing as they have no idea how to manage or earn money. but im just wondering, how many of you kids have a job, or dont, and how old are you?

also i started caddying at the golf course and mowing the neighborhood lawns. so far this summer i made over 2k.

My first job was when I was 15, I started out Lifeguarding. After that I worked in an auto shop, did odd jobs, mowed, and such. Now I work for a tree cutting business which blows mega hard, but I get paid bank for it.

I'll prolly end up lifeguarding, teaching swimming lessons, or towing trucks through college.

i am 21. this is the first summer i have not been able to work since i was 16. i am in montreal all summer taking summer courses and did not get my work permit until last week. plus my french sucks so i am screwed up here. i would prefer to be working because then i would have money to enjoy this city, but oh well school starts back up in a month anyway and i am going to have my certificate to teach english as a second language by the end of august. then i can tutor people throughout the year and make money at something i actually enjoy doing.

In the Spring and Fall I Umpire baseball, and during the same time I also Ref soccer. during the late Spring and Summer I work with a friend landscaping, really good money there. Each game for Umping is $35 and Reffing is $40. Landscaping is like $80 a weekend. Also caddying at Golf coursing doing shit for rich old people. Like $70 plus a $30 tip. I make mad bank yo.

Do you work at mountain creek waterpark as a lifeguard? Im pretty sure I saw you the other day working on some kiddy ride and recognized you from skiing.

Seems like a pretty sweet job

had a full time job every summer since i started high school. Also part time jobs. My parents pay for tuition and half of insurance. I pay for rent, gas, most of skiing, food and clothes. They also bought me a car

summer 2008 dishes all summer minimum wage 14 yrs old
Winter 2008/2009 dishes 15 yrs old
summer 2009 dishes still minimum wage 15 yrs old
Winter 09/10 Ski instructor 7.75 an hour
Summer 10 Recreation counsuler 8.00 /hr

Dishes was the pits though if you never have to have that job dont it blows. but 3 diff jobs in 2 years isnt bad i dont think more than most kids i know...

I should be working at this local water park by me, but I tore my acl and got the surgery. The doctor said don't go back yet.  Instead I get to go to new york and help in my uncles office, he's a neurologist. I read some of the patient files, some lady was hallucinating and seeing children. Nothingwaslaced. That, and everybody seems to have tingling in the feet. Saw some other interesting stuff too.

15 and i work just 2 days a week for a guy in a rich part of town doing random stuff around his property. probably going to have made around 600 by the end of the summer. also i have to pay for gas and my brother had to pay for the car i am getting

first job when i was 13 working as an umpire. stopped that for awhile. got a job as a life guard when i was 15. stopped going to that and was jobless going into my senior year with a car but no money to pay for gas. 17 now. im a pizza delivery boy. i mske minimum wage  plus tips which is like 20 a night. pay for all of my ski shit and gas and work around 40 hours a week now that its summer

17, i taught ski school in the winter and im working with the youth conservation corps for the summer.  40 hours a week of stuff no one at the fish and wildlife service wants to do.

16 Ive had a real Job for about a year stocking at a conveinence store but before that I had to mow lawns and stuff because it's pretty tough getting a job before your 15.

Started working this year at age 16 as a lifeguard/janitor at a hotel. Make $10.61 an hour and make $4,000 in a summer. Don't have a car and I'm not getting ski gear, parents pay for pass since it's only $250. Most of it gets saved or I give it for an investment.

22 and a college student.

I don't work during term time, but I work in a ski shop in NZ during the summer so I get to do season and earn a suitable amount of cash to survive on for a while. All the student NSers who live in the states or anywhere else where you have to pay have a really tough time and I respect that you work hard to do both skiing and college.  

Not entirely unrelated, but Im trying to get a rep job for a ski company in the UK for a little extra coin during term time anyone got any contacts? PM them, chuuuuuuurs

most legit job ever was my first job(15 or 16?). I ran a marina/gas pier/soft shell crab grow op/candy bar and yoohoo shop. I sat on a pier all day and fished and made sick tips.

then i worked in the bag room at a golf course, free golf is awesome

then as a web designer for my college

then selling lacrosse gear

and for now i am an accountant

I FINALLY GOT A JOB!!

im working at a custom frame shop in town. i take orders, build frames, touch up frames, cut mats, cut glass, then frame the pictures/art. 10 bucks an hour. 28 hrs a week. not bad for a sixteen year old.


oh and 900 posts.

I work at Kohl's in freight, a friend is a manager and hooked me up. We start at 0400 and unload the entire semi trailer in 3 hours. It's a good workout.

For those looking for a job, it's who you know, not just what you know. Networking is key.

Also, props to OP and others who work for everything they have, where I live there are a bunch of rich ass kids whose parents buy them new Camaros and 3-Series (I shit you not) for their sixteenth birthday. It's kind of disgusting.
