AR6 Problems?

Hey Everyone,

I am thinking about getting Ar6's for next year. Or Ar7's if they come out with them. However I sent my local ski shop an email and asked if they carried armada. They said that they don't carry armada because of warranty issues as well as lack of quality compared to some of their other brands. (Salomon, K2, Line, Dynastar, Atomic, ect.) Has anyone come across any quality issues in their Ar6's? Because from what I have heard, Armada owners all seem to love their skis.

Ar6's are known for their durability, that's half the reason I bought mine. The only issue I've heard of is top sheet chipping because it has a sidewall construction. This doesnt affect the performance of the ski it just makes it look a little less pretty. BTW your shop is retarded if they think salomon or K2 make a more durable ski.

haha yeah that is what I thought. and yeah, I am riding a salomon suspect right now and i know salomon has had so many problems with the edge armor, I didn't really get why he said that. Do they ride well outside of the park, groomers, crud and in the trees?

I've noticed outside of park they hold up more like like a stiffer/wider all mountain ski and can perform well on just about anything. That being said, they are not gunna be able to charge powder as well as a fatter ski. Just saying if it snows more then a foot at my local hill, I'm defanitely going to take a fatter, all mountain orientated ski.

that prob won't be much of a problem for me since I live on the east coast and I'm lucky to get one powder day over 1 foot the whole season when I can get out of school. haha. thanks for the info though.

i have the ar6's, i dont know what that ski shop is talking about.. mine are fine after a season of beating the shit outa them. rails alld ay errday, i rode down stairs wiht them, they held up so well and they are still fine...

I got have ar6's and they are just awesome! They perform decent on groomers and have a width large enough for some powder. I live in the east so I don't really know what kind of powder you ski, but for that one big dump a year we get it's pretty good.

In the park there great all around for jumps and rails. The top sheet chips, mine actually wasn't bad at all just on the inside of my ski's. I always wear one certain ski on the left and the other one on my right so it reduces chipping just to the inside of them.

I would either go for the AR6 since they would be on sale right now or wait till the AR7 which will be more expensive, but could be better.

I have AR6's And i LOVE them. Top sheet chips like a bitch, but ohh well. But after 4 months i have a cracked/pulling out edge, One ski is bent at the nose, the other ski is bent at the tail. I had a pullout the first night I got them, and the edges seem too wear down REALLY fast. But I still love these skis.

They are going to be sick, 60/40 side wall/cap construction will prevent side wall chipping and lower swing weight.

Thats the total opposite of what I've experienced. I've seen suspects snap after a week, volkls with edges falling out after a couple months and atomics snap clean on the first ride, but I've never seen a problem or had a problem with Armada. I've been hammering my T-Halls all winter and since, and no cracked edges at all, base is perfect.

Your shop needs to sort themselves out

Armada is SOLID, I had a pair of AR6s, sold them to a friend after a season, he rode them all season and they're still in very ridable condition and could probably last another half season, if not a full season (some parts pretty beat up, but that's cause he go caught up on the side of an up box going pretty fast). I have heard some stories of people wreaking them really quick, but they're pretty rare, and or the most part it's people not really taking care of them.

Every park ski is going to have edge problems, there's really no way around it, and top sheet damage, but that's just cosmetic, what really counts is the core and sidewall and how well they hold up, and I can't think of any time I've seen an Aramda ski in two pieces or with a cracked sidewall. Plus, their edges hole up extremely well (those skis I was talking about earlier just got their first edge crack in two seasons back in April, and that's cause the rider never switch left and right skis so the edge wore out and got really thin and then cracked).

Armada has great quality and a warranty program that i have never had an issue with, in the 5 years as an authorized dealer.  There were a few problems with the sales reps a few years back in the mass area so that could be the reasons behind the shops bad mouthing .
