yeah the nba wanted a 7 game series, but don't you think if they really wanted a good series they would have put LeBron in it? We've already seen the Lakers v Celtics, i wanted to see Lakers v Cavs

Cleveland is not a big enough market. Nobody outside of Ohio really likes that team unless they're just serious LaBron fans... The NBA would never find it profitable. Sorta like they didnt find the Kings profitable in 2002, even though they hand hands down the best team of anyone that year. They also lost in the 4th quarter via a ridiculous amount of ticky tack phantom fouls and laker trips to the line.
We had already seen the lakers play the 2 years prior. Didn't matter. David Stern wanted a NY area team vs. an LA area team, and he wanted the lakers to win a Dynasty. The end.
