Alright so I'm trying to get into producing electro music in reason 4. I have a decent grasp of the basic stuff, but I've been trying to figure out how to get a sound that I haven't been able to find any tutorials/straightforward answers for. I know that there are quite a few people on here who produce and even if you don't use reason you might be able to help me out.
My question is this: How do you make a synth pulse on the off beat, like you always hear in electro tunes? Is it just a lot of sidechain compression to the kick? Or is it done with an arpeggiator? Or is it something entirely different?
