i just got a pair. still two weeks or so till i can ride them but they are sick. nice even flex and suuppeerr poppy!!! stoked on them and cant wait to test them!!!
also glad they dont have edge armor!!!PEACE

They managed to make a boot that was downright dangerous so that's not surprising at least for this years line, I've been asking myself "what changed for this year" like the boot shattered someones knee and probably ended his skiing career, and now you saying the 2012's suck.

just wondering what was bad about them? I heard they chatter a bit. But how were they on rails, jumps, groomers?

i tried them, i don't want be near them ever again. even on 15' jumps they felt really unstable, and even on the ride to the park it was sketchy. I know they're park skis and all but i like a bit of versatility.

haha, well I guess it seems like I will be ruling it out then. Kind of bummed. Anybody have any suggestions for a good park ski that I can easily ride the whole mountain on and will hold up well on jibs. I was maybe thinking the Ar6/ new Ar7...

i dont know why you guys dont like this ski so much. i demoed them half way through last year and found them to be really fun. i lapped the park and they felt super nimble on the rails and actually pretty stable. i spun our 70 foot step down first hit no problem, thats how comfortable i felt on them. I really liked them, but i guess thats just me...

i loved them. everyone at the demo day also loved them (it was a private demo, so it wasnt just a bunch of idiots).

i just think that the new cool thing to do on NS is hate on Salomon for some reason. i bet most of the people hating on the 2012s havent even skied them. i thought they were light, poppy, super playful, and just about perfect for every aspect of the park. from the rails to the 70 foot stepdown i was hitting, they felt right at home.

They ski groomers just like any other park ski and don't have any chatter that a normal park ski wouldn't. The rocker is actually very minimal and you don't actually notice it when you're charging/carving up groomers. At least 3/4 of the ski has regular camber and the rocker comes into play towards the end. Where the rocker really shines is on the rails. The tips are super light and clear really easily on switchups. They're also a blast for presses, ollies, and nollies.

The other thing is that they're 91 under foot, which IMO is the perfect park and groomers width underfoot. The little bit of extra girth gives them a nice stability without being too much to handle. Overall, one of the best park skis for this season.

How much do you weigh?

At my demo, the rep said absolutley no rails, just jumps. when i was skiing them on the groomers i felt that they had an insane amount of chatter going at top speed.

Also just so you know (this is what the rep said) the ski has an insane amount of rocker. The total running edge on snow equaled out to be around 88cm. It was like a fucking snowblade. I'll give them the fun for presses and random shit but the ski had a lot of potential but was a let down.  Just so you know, i'm not just hating on salomon, i really enjoyed the pro pipe.

if you're only 145 then you should fine, as i weigh about 215 when i demoed them.

i found that the pro pipe was stable at speeds and pretty good in the air(then again the biggest jump was 15 feet.)  i would love to have them on long groomed run to see what they're really capable of.

then again this is just my personal opinion, so it's going to be different then someone else opinions ( like the 7spring guy.) I know people that loved it and hated it at the demo. It just seemed like there was no in between though.

I have a pair of 171s, and they seem pretty well made. Havent ridden them yet though. My friend demoed them, and he loved them. He said they felt stable underfoot, but then really soft and buttery in the tip and tails. He said they were super fun all mountain, stable on landings, but then when he went to purposefully flex them (like a butter), they did great.

I thought they were super fun... but each to his own on ski preference for sure.  I do wish they came in a longer length than 179cm max... kinda small for a rockered ski imo

even though i havnt had a full ride i took a mates for a run and they felt sooo sick..

i am only 150 and get 179s so i am sure they will feel stable.
and also i usually ride 171 but went longer and i recon that will help the feel of the big rocker.

super stoked to ride them and do a review.
hope i made a good choice getting them over the ar7s.

88 cm can't be right, there was no more than 30 cm of rocker at most at the tips and tails so that would make the running length around 120cm. And I didn't get as much chatter as you but I weigh 165 and was demoing the 179s. I had them going full throttle down a groomed as well.

And about the rails, the one rep was like a rail Nazi and the other was chill about it so I just made sure to return them to that one.

On another note, every rep except the salomon dudes was a complete stoner, it was so chill. Especially the reps for elan, rossi, and k2.

I am about 150, 5'7". Do you think I would want a 179 because of the rocker? It didn't feel too big. Did you take them in the park. Jumps, Rails?

Definitely definitely definitely get the 179s.

They feel shorter than they are with the rocker + center mount.

only a couple of runs at the SIA demo, but I was rather impressed by how they handled speed and turns....  They wouldn't be my first choice for an all-mtn park ski, that award would go to the AR7, ARV, Atomic Snoop.  But if you are looking for a rockered park ski to complement your quiver, you won't be disappointed with the 2012 or Alpha1/Halo.

so if I am looking for a one ski quiver that I can ride all east coast conditions park and all mountain, would you recommend the Ar6/7 over the 2012. And what does the AR7 have that the AR6 didn't?

I ski in Vermont & I would personally choose the AR7 over the 2012 if I could only have one ski, and those were my 2 choices.  My reasoning is, if you are going to have one ski on the east coast, you should probably look to a traditional cambered ski.  But it totally depends on your style.  If you favor a more buttery, playful ski, spend the majority of time in the park  and don't care for stability when charging on groomers, go for the 2012.  If you ski top to bottom, trails, park, woods I bet you would have more fun on something like the AR7.

AR7 vs AR6 = pretty similar dimensions and flex.  AR7 has the new cap/sidewall construction where the sidewall is underfoot for stability but cap in the tip/tail to reduce weight (think JJ or Alpha1).  Basically, the new AR7 is a better AR6 that didn't sacrifice anything.

thanks man. do you have any idea the price of the new ar7? do you think it is worth spending extra on it rather then just buying ar6's. The less chipping top sheet is nice, but not if it is a lot more.

the new AR7 will sell in shops for $499.99 and the 2012 will be $599.99

unless you can get the AR6 for under $300, just get the AR7.
