Video Compression

Hi guys, i was looking around for tips and advice on how to compress videos so you can put them on youtube and newschoolers. I have a gopro hd and have no idea how to do it!! Has anyone got any experience doing this as i want to practice in the summer so by winter i can upload all my edits :) +k for helping!!!

h.264 and if it is to big you start to limit the data rate.
