africa is a pretty dangerous continent, and the money from the world cup will not help all the impoverished in anyway. there is no trickle down effect for them.
people say it will insppire more kids to become footballers and play sports...but i think theyve got bigger problems to worry about to be honest.
Africa's not as fucked up as many people think, a lot of countries are industrializing. I go to Rwanda every year (headed back there in a week) and in the past four years I've not once felt uncomfortable (this is a country that was 10 years fresh out of a genocide back when I first began). Also have spent some time on layovers in addis ababa and nairobi, some really nice places. It's really not all AK-47's and lions as the media would make it seem.
BBC is considering broadcasting a bee free game. Girl I know went to S.A to see the World Cup first hand. She said the bezulus or whatever are just ridiculous. They are everywhere and they are as loud as a lawn mower (just one of them).
I, as a white person, would definitely not stroll round nairobi at night, and would be a little skeptical about even during the day.The centre of nairobi is pretty hardcore but their definitely is some nice suburbs to it. Rich, white suburbs.with gates.
i just mute the tv, and throw on some tunes. WAY better, than you can jam out while drinkin a brewski and watch some world cup soccer lol. plus its not like youre hearing anything but the horns anyways. unless you wanna hear the announcers, than your fucked
