Newschoolers that SCUBA dive...?

I'm kind of interesting in getting into it. I live in the PNW and theres supposed to be some good bodies of water for SCUBA around here (with interesting plant and fish life/ship wrecks). Just curious how long you've been diving, how did you get started, is there a good website with info (maybe a "newschoolers" of SCUBA diving haha)?

sup man, im into my diving aye, been doing it for about 5 years now since i was like 13 years old. its so mean, love it so much.
i just went down to my local dive shop and me and my dad did the course and then went from there, now have both got all the gear and its so much fun, i say u should defs look into it!

yea ive been diving for a few years now, Rescue Diver Certified, been diving in many different places around the world but id say it all depends where you go diving. The warmer water places imo are a lot better because you can enjoy it a lot more with out getting cold instantly (unless your dry suiting). I would defiantly recommend getting into it because its an extremely unique experience. The certification classes kinda suck but its worth it in the end

i've got my open water card, got the course payed for for christmas one time by my eccentric yet wealthy second cousins. i haven't done any diving since getting certified though, which blows because even diving in a man made like with about 10 fish was an awesome time. diving in the tropics is on my bucket list for sure, can't wait to get the chance to do it

Yeah dude my school has a scuba class so i took it this year in colorado and i got certified at this blue hole in NM... but ive dove in santabarbara out near catalina and stuff dope kelp forsests but here in colorado there isnt much but there is cave diving in NM i wanna try. Def get into scuba though soooo much fun

I'm about to do my certification but I'm in maryland and they do all the open water checks in quarries :( so I might wait to do the open water until I can go someplace warm.

Did you guys just buy your fins and mask then rent the bcd/reg/etc for the first few times?

ive done like day certified classes, been diving in cancun and aruba, at some german shipwrecks in aruba which was badass, only be down to 40-50 feet, and another 40 feet down i saw some huge grouper fish, it was an awesome experience and i def wanna get certified

i got certified when i was 13. it's worth the money that it takes to get started. when you're diving, you feel like you're in a different world.

the class is easy too. i don't know of any ns-esque forums for diving though hahaha.

i started beacuause my dad and mom do it ,
i was lucky i got certified in bahamas in a reserve , lots of fish bunch of sharks too
im certified PADI open water advance so my limit is 40 meter , about 120 feet ,
im going back 3 weeks there , should i make an edit with my gopro ?
reply if you think i should and if you would be intersted in seeing it

got certified about 7 years ago, have only done a handful of dives during vacations in warm waters. it was fun, i'd like to get into it again some time, doubt it'll be any time soon though.

i freedive and spearfish, scuba is a little expensive and i havnt really looked into the necesary courses. I can dive to 30 ft, maybe a little more, and hold my breath for 2 min. 45 sec. now. Hopefully up to 3 1/2 min. by the end of summer. I reccommend getting spearfishing or pole spear gear, its very fun. Spear poles are only $30 for decent ones

I have been diving PNW and all around the world for about 5 years now, and i LOVE it. Theres ups and downs to cold water diving (EX: visibility, the fact that it's cold water, they type of marine life you see), but I highly recommend it. If you are in the WA area, there are a bunch of dive parks sprawled across the puget sound, all of which have sunken ferryboats and other structures that are inhabited by all sorts of marine life. Here's some pictures of Edmonds dive park, one of the best cold water diving places in the world and where i learned to scuba dive.

Lingcod: these are big fish, can get to be about 9 feet long

Sixgill shark: only seen one of these because they are so incredibly rare; but if theres a place to find them, it' s in the puget sound

been certified for 18 years...have my open, advanced, deep, wreck, rescue, blackwater, etc. to name a few. got started by my old man who is an instructor. ill post more info, if interested, when im not on my phone.

i recently finished a scuba course but still gotta do my final certification dive. just been trying to find a weekend with an instructor thats going out where im not working haha. but its definately fun.

I freedive around my local lake around old car wrecks and such, also to spearfish. I've always wanted to get into scuba though, its just so expensive.

I got certified sometime last year, it's definitely worth it... And on a side note, a few of my friends and I couldn't remember what Scuba was an acronym for, so we figured it MUST stand for

yeah this is the easiest way to get into it. I started a while ago through the local dive shop and last summer I got my master diver. You don't even have to buy any of your own equipment, its a ton easier just renting it from some shop. All I have is a dive computer (really nice to have so you know when you can go back down). just call around and see where has a class you can take, also go to PADI.com and they have a ton of info.

I used to dive few years ago, i got my PADI certified open water diver card...Diving is cool as fuck!!! i've seen crazy shit underwater.....a lost whale in Dominican Republic, and cube shaped fish...i dunno... highly recommended

I've grabbed on to the back of a 6th or so mola mola fish, they are really wierd looking but are pretty chill. They don't give a fuck, they'll just swim up to you and sit there in front of you and chill while I had my speargun out.
