I'm sure some of you fellow stoners have gotten the classic, "Can you not hang out and just be sober?" or something similar. Whenever I hear this, I feel guilty and sometimes annoyed. What is something you would say in response to that statement? I'm usually at a loss of words when someone throws that at me.

Here's how you respond. "Can't you just hang out and not play volleyball?"

Volleyball = whatever they do for fun, whether it's skiing or football or rock climbing or guitar or knitting or video games.

At this point, they will likely respond with, "Yes, I do hang out without playing volleyball sometimes." And you will counter back with "And I hang out sober sometimes." Or they may contend that volleyball is not a health risk, but being intoxicated is. To this, you should either agree and say that you do many activities that are potentially dangerous, or you should point out every single way that one could possibly get injured playing volleyball. You'll wear them down eventually.

So I dont smoke... but I enjoy my alcohol.

More recently I have tried to hang out with my intoxicated friends while sober.....

IT SUCKS!

it has made me question my friendships.

So, my response to this would be:

No, because everyone else looks like an idiot leading me to question my friendships with them. But I love them so in order to not judge them, I prefer to be intoxicated as well.

i get the same thing but in the opposite way. I get shit all the time for not drinking or smoking. hell i had one kid try to fight me cause i told him i dont do either. kinda show's how "chill" weed makes people. honestly i dont know how people have fun while being drunk. but i dont go around giving kids shit for it.
