I went with backy first, seemed easier in my mind.
If you go backflip, don't just throw your head back, you'll get upside down and stop. While your head goes back a bit the biggest part is throwing your hips forward and up. That's what really sets the rotation for your whole body. Once you're flat, facing the ground, just bring your legs under and around and you'll come back to vertical. Don't huck it super hard or you'll smash your head on the takeoff.
For a first jump I'd find something poppy as hell, maybe even your average wind lip stepup type thing, and just fully commit.
