Actually for me when I have my goggles over my helmet, the pressure of the ear pads on my ears builds up and at the end of an 8 hour day when I take my helmet off, it feels like my ears are dangling by a thread.
Same thing happens to me but I always wear it over my helmet. When wearing a beanie underneath, does that take away some of the safety of the helmet or does it do the same job as the padding on the inside of the helmet?
i wear my goggles over and no hat. i've tried hat and goggles under and it really wasn't very comfortable. to the guy who had ear pressure issues its most likely because your helmet doesn't fit very well. i have never had any issues with pressure and a perfectly fitting helmet. i use the smith maze and oakley splices and there is no gap and it feels great. the guy who said it reduces gaper gap is wrong is some cases. it depends on the goggle and helmet. my splices fit perfectly and my electrics fit perfectly. my smiths fit perfectly obviously. the ear pads in the helmet keep my ears plenty warm so the ear issue would come with a poorly fitting helmet as well. the only reason i see in the hat under the helmet is to take off the helmet and still have a hat on but in my case since my hat and goggles fit perfectly i never have to take off my helmet during the day except at lunch or when i go inside so it's not an issue. on the day when i wore my hat under my helmet i was taking it off all the time to adjust the hat and goggles which got annoying and i didn't normally have to do.
Not gonna lie, most people probably wear a hat underneath cause it looks cooler... Personal preference though. I got a new helmet and used it with no hat + goggles on top for a while, but switched to goggles and hat underneath + taking out this liner thing it had and it fit much more snug. Plus my ears stayed a hell of a lot warmer. One disadvantage though, is that it's a lot more trouble to get your goggles off if you put them under your helmet.
Nope. They stick big warning stickers on the inside what will tape do? I could be wrong, but I don't think it takes away from the safety. And yes, I understand damn well how a helmet works.
a lot of people remove helmet padding so that they can wear hats underneath, that seriously takes away from the safety of the helmet, like really fucks with it and makes the helmet no longer approved
Why the fuck do people remove the padding? I don't, I just made sure I got the right size helmet with a beanie underneath. These kids have ot be retarded to take the padding out.
I wasn't talking about the padding though, I was talking about just taping over those velcro things. I just got my POC T Hall helmet and took the pads out and covered up the velcro with tape so I could rock a beanie underneath. I figured the beanie would take place of the padding and that the padding was for comfort and a more precise fit.
