so you know how in interragation rooms they have the double sided mirrors?

so lets say you are looking through one of those into the room.

all that the person sees inside the room is obviously the mirror.

but...

what if that person inside the room holds up a mirror to the person on the other side looking in on the room...


what does that person see?


what doo you see when a mirror looks into a mirror?

The other side is just like looking through a window. He would probably see a guy with a mirror.

But what would be in the mirror!?

the answer is the big windown mirror which would then reflect the wall behind the mirror the man is holding up.

The detainee would see his reflection being reflected back infinitely, and the interrogator would see his own reflection in the mirror. Its all a matter of perspective, both individuals are seeing different rays of light being refract because of their positions, the one way mirror just adds a weird obstacle for the light.

he's trying to say, if it was JUST mirror on mirror - nothing else. imagine if you were looking into a four-sided mirrored wall room, through that window, what would it look like?

A bunch of slightly smaller mirrors, each with a progressively smaller mirror inside of it. This continues to infinity, where the mirrors appear only as a single point far off in the distance.

Therefore, it looks like a little dot.

But think about this, what if they move the mirror around? Would the long line of mirrors in the reflection move immediately, or would there be a delay?

For the hypothetical purpose of this conversation, lets assume both mirrors are really really big (covering wall to wall). Then all you would see is the repeated reflection of the ceiling and floor, and other two walls.

But if all six sides of the room were covered in mirrors, you would just see gray (assuming the light coming in through the one-way mirror is white sunlight). The color of an object is determined by the wavelengths it doesn't absorb, and mirrors reflect all light. Therefore if the mirrors were perfectly flawless, you would see the white light reflected; but there are no perfect mirrors, so you would see gray instead.

he'd see a reflection of a guy holding a mirror. It's still a 1 way mirror he's looking through. Holding a mirror up to it doesn't somehow magically grant you the ability to see back through it.

Well the side of the window that the criminal see is just a mirror and the person standing in the see-through side of the window would see a reflection to the mirrored side of the window, which would mean he would see a continuous stream of reflections.
