Can you get in trouble for prank calling

so my latest hobby has been prank calling the super liberal new york times ordering hotline, asking them how obamas dick tastes, etc... can i get in trouble for that?

theres a new "fad" going around called pranking or some shit. there was a real name for it but i forgot. it basically involves people somehow calling the cops and telling them a murder is happening or a rape or a drug deal or whatever at "A" house when they are at "B" house which sometimes isnt even in the same state. not sure how they do it but its a pretty large epidemic i guess.

WOW. Also no.

Its not really that you prank call people thats ridiculous (I'm 21 and I'm not above calling Walmart with a Hank Hill soundboard), but that you think you can get in trouble for it.

I used to prank call people when I was like in 5th grade and watched the simpsons. Then my balls dropped, and spent that time instead of prank calling people to calling girls. Its sense worked out.


However, I once did call QVC, not really a prank, because on the show there was a black midget chef using one of the pans for sale, so I got on live air and told him he was a cute midget black chef. He smiled, then I was disconnected.

There are blackberry/iPhone apps for this (the best IMO is "bluff my call", but just google something like prank call apps) Pretty much for a fee you can change the voice (women or man), use the caller ID of either any of your contacts or a number of your choice, and you have the option to go straight to voicemail. Hope this wasn't posted above...

not realy but sketchy shit can happen, take it from me.

this winter ns was having fun trolling some doods radio show about ufos and ghosts and shit and the guy was annoyed. I called after like the third day of slight trolling by ns and when he answered he asked me if it had anything to do with chads gap.... I said no. So then I shared my ghost storry about seeing tanner halls ankles float above my head as I was walking home from skiing at alta... he got pissed off and told me I won. I was stoked so I say holy shit I just won x games? no it turns out I won getting my phone number posted on his radio show. a lot of stupid phone calls followed. all from newschoolers... but still. I was threatened to be banged like a hammer, I was rick rolled on the phone and stupid shit like that. it was funny at this point, until about 2 in the morning. I get a call from the asshole host of the show who lives in kansas. I was going skiing the next morning so It ruinned my sleep and it sucked. The dood would call every 2 minutes. at first I was pissed, then a bit scared ( he gave me death threats) but then I thought about it and he lives like 6 thousand miles away from my house so I couldnt care less. I just laughed at him for accumulating such a huge long distance bill. Eventualy he stopped calling because of this I guess but it wasnt over... he got in contact with doug bishop, Im an intern at ns so that was pretty sketchy. Doug was a bit pissed since the guy threatened to sue but he had nothing on ns so it died away but it was a pretty sketchy situation.

key word is expect to be fucked with... it could happen

A even better prank is the "strip search prank" ( http://abcnews.go.com/Primetime/story?id=1297922&page=1 )where you call a business that is staffed by morons, say Mcdonalds or taco bell. You tell the manager you are a police officer, and describe a female employee you know is working, and tell the manager she was reported to of just stolen a purse and the manager needs to get her in the office before she escapes. You then tell the manager to strip search the girl, and then do jumping jacks to make sure "nothing falls out". You tell the person that the girl has to call them sir or maam, when they don't, you make them spank the girl for 10 minutes until her bottom has welts.

This one caller has SUCCESSFULLY done this dozens of times:

early 2004, there had been more than 70 cases of hoax phone calls to fast food restaurants, dating as far back as 1994.

At a McDonald's in Hinesville, Ga., a caller convinced a 55-year-old janitor to do a cavity search of a 19-year-old cashier, while in Fargo, N.D., a manager at a local Burger King strip-searched a 17-year-old female employee.

In Phoenix , a caller had a Taco Bell manager pick out a customer and then strip-search her. And police in Massachusetts had been looking for a man who called three Wendy's restaurants nearBoston in a single day.
