considering jazz has been around for over 100 years, i think rap will be around for a LONG time. styles of music don't really die. i mean, people still listen to mozart. as long as people listen to music, someone will be making rap.

rap music fucking sucks now a days except fro probably the 5% out there thats really sick. but of course non of it is on the radio. nothing but shitty music is on the radio. i mean basically what jay z is saying in DOA is basically why rap sucks now. no one like rock or anything else because its DIFFERENT. people have stopped listenin/writing to music for its true purpose in the first place. to convey a message. now its all just i fucked this bitch smoked that weed and sippin on ma sizzurp YOUNG MONEY!!! nothing else. fuck music now a days

This, that's what happened when they were in NWA. Have you ever heard any of Eazy's single albums? Absolutely horrible give or take a couple songs. But yeah, to the thread, underground hip hop is the way to go if you're looking for talented lyricists.

this is the most well thought out post in this thread. Especially the last sentence.

there is no soul in commercial hip hop. but thats because its not new anymore. half of the artist out there are just recycling, repeating and singing there way into extinction. fine with me because the game could use a cleansing.

that being said there is plenty of great hip hop out there. and its not hard to find.

rap wont die, it may become less popular but it will never die out completely

and i have a question for you guys, in the majority of my school underground/not mainstream rap is what everyone likes and pretty much everyone thinks that mainstream or radio rap is awful. This is also true in many of my friends schools, throughout my brothers college, and obviously this site. because of this wouldnt it make underground/non mainstream/good hip hop and rap popular and mainstream as opposed to the shit they play on the radio?
