What do you know about breaking and entering?

Ive become a big fan of urban exploring I suppose, entering old broken down factories or buildings and just exploring them, taking some pics, dont damage anything or take anything. What are the penalties for being caught? I assume its considered breaking and entering, and a quick google search said 2-10 years for first offense, theres no way in hell this is right is it?

my friend got caught coming out of an abandoned hospital, and now on his record it says he was ghost hunting...

Realistically they will probably give you trespassing which is not that big of a deal. If you are actually breaking something like a door or lock before entering, they will likely give you vandalism.

Its so hard to get caught though and once most cops found out you weren't even drinking or tagging or nothing they would probably just let you off with a warning.

Sorry over 18. sucks I know.

Havent broken anything yet, but opened many broken doors, which Im sure I could be blamed for, but I assume there is a difference between breaking a door and just entering.

From what i remember, atleast here in Canada, it is 5 years for breaking into a commercial building and 10 years+ for breaking into a residence.

Highly depends on the cop man, i got getting on top of my school.. if your not on probhabation you will most likely get a verbal warning.. hard to say though :/

Well since you are not harming anyone, stealing or damaging anything the most you could get is probably just a fine. It is definately fun to do and big thrill as i have done it before at my old school. I managed to get in and realized i tripped an alarm and left 10 minutes before a squad of cop cars came. Almost shit my pants.
