Critique my dubstep!

well, i have noticed that newschoolers seems to be pretty into this "dubstep" music. so i took a crack at it and this is what i got.

side note:
it is super gritty bass heavy dubstep. this is also the not completely mastered version

I love the highs that come in around 50 seconds, just some criticism, at first I wasn't feeling the breakdown section,not sure what it is. but its growing on me a bit more now and I still haven't given it a proper listen on my big speakers.

Just wanted to say again man this is tight!

What software do you use? Since you're making some sick enough stuff to probably be into production at some depth, any VST's or plugins that you'd recommend?

Oh and sorry for the double post, but since you said "critique" in the title, thought I'd say that the high wobble at 2:03 sounds a bit off beat for my ears. Maybe I'm just not hearing it right, maybe that was intentional. Just in case you hadn't thought about it. It doesn't detract from the track at all though haha.

Thank you all! this was a test drive of sorts to see if people would be digging my dubstep and it seems like people are digging it, so be expecting much "moar" in the future.

to answer questions...

this song took me a week to make, yet alot of work went into that week.

i am using ableton live with the native instruments massive plugin, i have worked with quite a few soft synths and this one is incredible for the gritty grimmy dubstep.

also, another dubstep production tip is getting actually studio monitors, i am running KRK Rokit5's and they get the job done.

Sounds good. Just a few things that I would improve upon:

-When you've got your wobbles goin, you should have smoother bassy tones below your wobbles to give it a fuller sound.

-The ending could be a little better.

-After the song drops you should chop up the vocal samples a little to give it a more jerky feel.



But other than that, that was fuckin ill man. Keep it up.

It's still a sick track. His sound system must be crazy good because my Alpine Twin 10's in my car didn't seem like they had the problem he was describing. It actually sounded awesome in my car

my friend has the same set up but 12's.

fuck how do i describe this. The bassline was good, like what matches up to what you would hear out of your normal speakers.

But good producers have kinda a "sub" bass line, and I though that the noise underneath the original bassline sounded messy. I have no clue how you produce or if the sounds im describing we're even intentional but it's just kinda what you feel underneath that i though could have some more rythm.

don't get me wrong though I am very impressed by this track. Looking forward to more stuff from you.
