Pet Sitting - Advice

So after coming up fruitless in my desperate search for a job this summer, a friend and I have decided to start a pet sitting business in our town. I live in a pretty wealthy area so tons of families have pets, go on vacation, and have a lot of money, which seem to be the perfect ingredients for people who would need a pet sitter.

So my question is would you hire a 17 year old to watch/feed/walk your pet(s)? I've owned pets all my life and am very pet friendly (obviously). Here's what I've got so far...

Sure, why not? People will call and as long as you sound respectable on the phone and show up and act professional they should want to work with you. Be honest and tell them you couldn't find work elsewhere and instead of sitting at home or doing nothing with your friends, you'd rather be at the park being active and playing with their pets.

best thing I can say is act professional and if it's a large neighborhood where houses are close you could try going door to door leaving cards and asking for referrals

good money in it i'm sure.
since your a kid your going to have to find out what other legitamate businesses are charging and undercut them by a little, but if you go to cheap they will doubt your credibility.

also, the fliers may get you somewhere, but find a better medium to reach them . you'l have to be creative with this cause i don't know your area. go to your local parks and find the people walking dogs and go introduce yourself. ect.

but as long as you act professional and get a few references thru some family or friends it shouldnt be too hard to get customers. sounds like a decent summer job.

Legit man, me and my buddy had the same issue, no jobs at all so we just started up a student window cleaning business :P, just got the business cards all cut today.

Use craiglist too.

People pay lots of money to keep their pets at kennels on vacation, find out how much that costs and slightly undercut it. If you are too cheap people will think you  are sketchy. It's all bout appearances.

Plus hell, you do a good job sitting someones pet they'll probably be pretty happy with you and you could definitely scoop up some more business from them doing other random shit.

So i've got 2 full time (everyday) and 2 part time (a few times a week) jobs. i've made about $160 so far, mind you, i've yet to "work" for more than an hour on any given day. although it may not pay like a full time job, this is definitely my kind of job

I had the same exact problem with finding a job, and last week my mom was talking bout how this women I my neighborhood with 6 little puppy dogs was going on vacation. I very kindly offered to watch them for the weekend and shit I made $140!! Def. A great job and the hardest part was gettin up early to let em' out...

I am majoring in marketing right now, and it looks great. Just one thing, In big blue letters it says "Lots of animal experience" Or something like that. You also repeat in your brief description below it saying you have experience. My advice, take it or not, change the big blue letters to something more clever. More professional sounding. Id give you an example but I cant think of anything relevant to pet sitting sorry

Dog sitting will get you some money, yea, but if you want some real cash, fuck those dogs and then put them videos online and make your own website, and include hot girls fucking the dogs also. Now you can put on your future resumes that you started your own company, like "DoggieTreatsBackDoor"

i think this is a great idea but make sure you do careful research into specific things like lizards or things like that... sometimes they can be quite specific.
