How do you record a video on webcam?

So I posted this before but it got moved to the graveyard that is media and arts with no answers, and I need to figure this out today to get it done. I suck with computers. I have a PC and need to find a way to record videos of myself on my webcam and save them to a flash drive. I've been looking around online and can't really find anything that makes sense to me. There are 6 year olds that can figure this out on youtube and I clearly can't so any help would be appreciated.

There should be some sort of button on your webcam. Press that and some sort of program should open. There will probably be some sort of record option.
(Not sure on this though. Havent used a webcam in years, but this is how it has been for me in the past)

most webcams come with some sort of software that you can use to record videos

the webcam is built into my laptop. i reformatted my computer when it had a bunch of viruses and upgraded to windows 7. (well my brother did it for me) im not sure where to find the webcam stuff on my computer, i may not even have the drivers. i know it works because i use it for skype on a daily basis

there should be a program for it. i dunno if it would be the same for you, but on my laptop its called YouCam or something like that. when you press the start button, type in "cam" in the search bar and see what comes up. then you open up the program for the webcam, and then the rest should be easy enough, just find the red round record button

k well mine is a gateway and all i do is scroll my mouse to the very top of my screen and the webcam thing pops down so try that otherwise you can usually access them by going into the programs list.

i dunno if you should download it, what im sayin is that on my computer the program that operates the webcam is youcam, so there is probably the same thing on your computer already, maybe its not youcam but something similar, just look around for it
