Grad present problems

So now that the grad presents are slowly trickling in I have run into a few problems.

First, my GF's parents got me a really nice mini fridge, that I cant use because my college already has them (along with Microwaves) in the dorms, and I cant swap them out. They have offered to either get me something else or give me cash, but I am getting enough and I know I wont be able to save it so I would rather get something that will actually help next year.

Second, my parents want to get me a flat screen TV, but as with the fridge, there is already one in my room, and thus I don't need it.

So what are some good alternatives to these two gifts?

A really really nice and organized bag to haul your shit in that will not be hard on your body. You laugh now, but high school has NOTHING on college in terms of books/wear and tear on bags.

In replace of the mini fridge.... Memory foam extra long twin size mattress cover.

From the parents... Just ask them to take you shopping when you move into your dorm room.

I spent like $800 just buying random shit like extension cords and closet organizers and other totally random stuff.

If youre parents are really cool and dont mind sponsoring your delinquency... I had a friend who's dad gave him a trunk that happened to fit perfectly under his bed and filled it with alcohol. RAs dont go into suitcases and what not.

Where are you going to school that you get a tv, fridge, and microwave in your dorm room?  When I moved into my dorm freshman year I had two beds, two desks, and a nasty futon thing.  Also, take the extra cash and spend it on the random things you'll realize you need after like a week of being at school that you didn't think about + booze.

your dorm room has microwaves...mini fridges..and flatscreen tvs? what kind of rich ass college is that? If your heading to school i dont think you should be concerned with what type of presents mommy and daddy are giving you...more on how you can pay for school unless the aforementioned is paying your ass through school...then i would be inclined to ask for nothing and be thankful that you get a free ride.. but since your in quite a pickle i would go with the memory foam bed cushion..unless your college has king size beds which would no longer surprise me.

Now when I said those things were in the room I didn't say that they were nice, or that my roommate wasn't already providing it.

I'm going to University of MN Duluth, not some fancy ass school.

I don't need money for loans, thank god for rich grandparents that died, I wont have to pay a cent for tuition or room and board.

I'm not complaining either, I just don't want to be an ass and turn down gifts given to me.

I cant have hot plates or pizza cookers (stupid housing contract)

My parents said they may have gotten me a Memory foam mattress pad with my bedding stuff (I guess they already got it idk)

Keep coming with the suggestions most of them are good

Likewise - 2 post grads actually. Threads like this one kinda piss me off just because it seems like this kind of thing is expectd... Actually my dad rented the U-haul with which I got all my crap out of his house, that may have been classified as a present. Or it might have been incentive to get all my crap out of his house.

Ask for a really nice road bike, lock for said bike, and mirror and head light, much better than a car.
Take the cash and buy whatever you need in the first week of college, you'll find you need a bunch of shit.
