i am considering buying one but a few people i have talked to say that they think its a "girl car" so im just wondering what NS thinks about this one.

Well, it does have two tail pipes, making it female. Male cars have one exhaust pipe. Just make sure you use the right pipe for your exhaust on your new car, because that can make for an embarrassing situation.

Not at all.

Which engine are you looking to get?

Watch out because the 1.8t variant comes with power output level of 180 and 225 bhp.
Do yourself a favor and NEVER buy the 180.

I could elaborate more, but maybe check out some audi forums? fourtitude seems to be one of the main ones.

high miles = huge maintenance costs too. factor that into the low asking price.

Helll Nooo.

The TT's are the shit. I know a wealthy guy he has the TT RS. its dope as hell, its a classy/luxury sports car IMO.

As for the normal TT, a kid at my college has one, slammed and through all kinds of mods to it. Thing rips and looks fresh without being a riced out honda.

I would consider an audi TT to be a good purchase its up there on my list of sick affordable cars along with  370z, Gs, GTI's and older gen MR2's.

Those older TT's are basically just dressed up VW Golfs. If you could find a good price, I'd try to go for a VW R32.

I'd recommend the GTI, but I think that's just personal preference. Test drive them, see what you like.

Seeing as volkswagen owns audi, porsche and lamborghini the audi tt is actually the exact same car as the Porsche Boxster with less fancyness. Also the Lamborghini gallardo is the exact same car as the Audi R8 v10 same chassis same engine but the gallardo has less luxury because its a more of a sports car. So the next time people call the Audi TT a girl car tell them they are pussys and you own a Porsche wearing an Audi jacket.

the mk1 tt actually shared the mkiv golf chassis.


*and to your second post. the TT NEVER shared the chassis with the boxter. I won't go beyond the explicitly obvious fact that the TT is a front engined car, while the boxter is mid-engined.
think about it.

I will say that the mk1 tt is NOT a sports car. it is a rather softly-sprung, meakly powered cruiser. It looks good, and will get you there safely and without much fuss. It's unfortunate because the golf chassis is not very rigid.


To the OP. If you only have 7k to spend, you should probably reconsider your car choice. For that price, you're buying into the absolute lowest end of the market for this car. It will most likely be an early 180 with high miles (which you've posted).

These cars are notoriously prone to high-cost (like thousands of dollars) repairs that are only going to occur more frequently due to the age and mileage of the cars you are looking at. Unless you have a hefty budget set aside for these, I would forget about it.

That definitely is a good low price, you should run the carfax on it if you haven't already. Also realize that you have about $500 in taxes you are going to have to pay on top of that price. Personally, i would not want to pay $7,500 total for it with those miles, even though I like the TT.

But remember that Audi is not a cheap brand to replace parts for... 105k miles isn't horribly high, and i know Audi's can last a long time, but just something to consider.

Probably not close to you, but i can see this going for around $7,000 or so. Not sure what type of car you're looking for.. but i would buy this over that Audi.
