germany is pretty banged up too, ferdinand is out for england, pirlo maybe missing for italy, tough stuff.

ivory coast lost their only superstar, although they have a good squad. i would like to see an african team reach the semi-finals at least. but in this case, it seems unlikely that ivory coast is that team.

if i was in the same situation where i was the best player on my team and got injured right before what could be my last world cup i can't imagine that i would call it quits so easily. I realize he broke his arm but i know that i would do everything in my power in his situation to play through the pain whether it be playing with a cast on or having a quick surgery or whatever.

nooooo! that fucking sucks. i was reading in sports illustrated that he like single handedly united the ivory coast. they had been at civil war for a long time and he basically just asked everyone to stop fighting and they did. he's like their god.... and a little bit of mine.



Tribute to Didier. for those of you nsers that don't know ho drogba is, he is imo the best goal scorer in the world and probably the best forward/player a few years ago

yeah, that's why i think this is such a big deal. it's now no longer a soccer player missing a tournament, it could result in extreme havoc for the country.

yea i would agree drogba is a tough motherfucker. but it depends what broke. it looks like he got hit in the elbow, which could fuck him up. if its just the wrist or something he could play. i don't know what fifa's rules about that are but kids in junior leagues play with casts so i'd have to imagine he'd push through it. he's really passionate about his national team.

i read that he is having emergency surgery so there is a slim chance he might still be able to play. I really hope he can that would suck if he misses out, bummed about pirlo too. I mean i hate the italian national team but pirlo is pretty boss

I feel like he probably shouldn't be allowed to play if it's in a cast. Not for his own safety but everyone elses. I remember my friend playing in a cast and wacking people with it. With the stakes as high as they are at the world cup I feel like even the most honourable player would be tempted to take advantage of having a solid arm. You could cause a good chunk of pain without appearing to try to or breaking any rules. Maybe they could put some sort of brace on it that would protect his arm enough?

they said it was a broken bone near the elbow so i believe he will be able to play. even if he is reppin' a cast they have the strong braces with a soft wrap around support(ppl have the same basic thing in the NFL with damaged arms) so it couldnt really be used to hurt other players as sumone said before.

itd be awesome to see him playing also cuz of wat its done for his country and he will set up sum good matches..

Because this is a tag I've used for everything since I was like 14 and back then thenowhereman was taken on AIM, and also I had just recently read The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and the number has some connections to that book.

Also fuck good soccer I just want my country to win LOL. I've always found it funny when people root for some random ass country because the follow the player or something. Fuck that, support your country. Soccer is srs business, not like The Olympics or any of that nonsense.

this is why friendly scrimmages are stupid...they are an unnecessary risk for the teams...and im sure he will be able to play at some point because a kid on my team this year broke his arm and played with a cast
