One step closer to Ski Halfpipe in 2014 Olympics

Just passing on some info. I will supply links once they come available.

FIS approved the submitting of a proposal to the IOC for the inclusion of ski halfpipe in the 2014 olympics.

i attended a meeting back in March and the Canadian FIS representative said that the meeting was coming up and that FIS would be almost 100% likely to agree to get it in as Freestyle skiing has some of the top views in sports at the Olympics. He said however that FIS is not the people that are going to be hard to convince. It's the IOC that would be the ones that would be hard to convince. He said now that FIS has passed it that they need to start preparing a case that will get by the IOC. So Although were one step closer, This step we just passed was almost a given, the IOC is what could really fuck this over.

hopwfully the spotlight will be brought over to the skiers and we can continue to have the olympics, and not the shaun white games.

I hope ECheadwear makes one for 2014 and if he does I hope he does them soon cause it sucks buying a shirt knowing that like one year later you can't really wear the shirt anymore.

prolly gonna get some hate for this but halfpipe skiing will not be in the olympics.  There are not enough countried that compete in this sport for it to be nominated into the olympics. the countries get to vote and halfpipe skiing is not in enough of these countries. and they do not want it in tho olympics because they think it is taking away from moguls because they are doing tricks that arent ariels and there doesnt need to be another olympic sport like this. i personaly think that halfpipe skiing will never be int he olympics. iw ould be soooo stoked if it was but i think there is no chance.

you should remember that its fis and a lot of top pipe athlete don't do this tour so they won't be in olympic.

Not going to argue much, but keep in mind guys that the 2014 games are 3.5 years away. Who knows what freeskiing will look like by the winter of 2014. Look at how much it changed from 2006 to 2010. Different athletes, TOTALLY different level of competition.

It will undoubtedly be a different game by then.

there is a difference from snowboarding. there is no othler olympic sport that snowboarders do tricks in so its something new and it is its own thing. halfpipe skiing wpuld be taking away from ariels and moguls . and its hard to believe but there are way more countries that have halfpipe snowboarders then halfpipe skiers. most countries jsut have ski racing moguls and ariels no pipe. so i really think its almost impossible for it to be in the olympics i hope i am wrong but dont think so. i forget i heard the statistics about how many countried voted for halfpipe skiing to be in the olympics befor but it was no where near enough votes to come close and i dont think halfpipe skiing has yet become more popular in these countries,
