manual subarus in the snow are ridiculous. i have an 06 impreza manual with studded snows, and it is a beast. a few months ago there was literally 8 inches of snow on top of ice and i was able to get around a pretty steep corner at the same speed i would have navigated it at on dry pavement. that said, manuals are amazing in the snow
~you can clutch kick thru corners to start slides
~dont have to rely on brakes
~if you are going up a hill in, say, 3rd, and you need a little more power, you can step on the gas more without worrying about a slushbox downshifting and fucking your traction
~you are always in FULL control of the car
~start in higher gears
~never worry about an unintended downshift that will either lose your traction or waste time making you unable to get on the gas quick enough
~never worry about an unintended upshift, for example when you are drifting and you need to keep the rpms high
