we call it "hobo piss" because its chemical makeup is similar to that of urine from a boxcar hobo clown. alot of alchohol, some water, maybe a little blood and some yeast.

Dude, in cities, drinks are expensive at bars/clubs. In downtown Seattle (Belltown, Pioneer Square, Freemont anywhere pretty much that isn't a dive) a shot of crown is 8-12 dollars. In WA 750ml of Crown costs 30 bucks. Blue Label costs 220.00 (retail 180, 40 in tax). That makes Blue Label approximately 7 times more expensive than crown. If bars charged proportionately, it would be around 70 dollars per shot, but they don't so it is anywhere from 35-50 dollars usually.

Have you ever actually been into a bar?

Those of you who are panicked at the thought of 50 dollar shots in a bar have never been out to a bar before. Two of the scotches I mentioned on the last page would run somewhere between 400 and 500 a shot in a bar. Jameson sells for between 10 and 20 a shot in most bars around here, blue label, easily approaches 50. some tequila bars have shots selling for around 1000 dollars. (side note: if you live in Denver, I know a bar that does 5 dollar "happy meals" which are a beer and shot of your choice, including top shelf, for their happy hour, any beer, any shot. they don't do super premiums, but a shot of jame-o and a blue moon for 5 bucks is a fucking deal)
Also, if you've never been introduced to the concept of bottle service, a club will buy a case of grey goose at wholesale, paying something along the lines of 16-20 dollars a bottle, and turn around and sell that bottle for between 200-500 dollars to a group of Chads, Arabs, or businessmen in their midlife crisis. that doesn't include the cost of the table, tax or tip, and most clubs require 2 or 3 bottles minimum. Hows that for burning cash?

ZINNG, also I don't think we were freaking out. Just the kid said it was 50 in a bar, and were not talking about buying alcohol at a bar... Leading to my confusion when he said it was $50 a shot. In a club, sure, but we're not talking about that.

I never go to clubs, let alone douchey clubs.. I like proper scotch. I can't afford to pay 3 grand for a bottle, or to fly to scotland to actually get the bottle, so I'll gladly put down 50 bucks for two fingers of a Glen Garioch or an Ardbeg a few times a year and enjoy it. if I'm going to drink something like blue label, I'll just buy the bottle and enjoy it at home though. I was just bringing awareness to the naive people who feel that 50 dollars for a shot is unheard of in a bar, especially for liquor that retails for over 150 for a bottle
