Im goin to mount hood this summer at mhssc (Sesh 4 & camper staff sesh 5). Im real pumped, but im worried about bringing my camera (hv40 with a good deal of accessories). My friend went a few years ago and got like $100 jacked. I wanna bring my cam but i dont wanna lose it. How sketchy is it really there?
in the MHSSC VS Windells thread, someone said its pretty safe and not very much stuff gets stolen, and if it does, the staff will help you find out who took it so you can get your stuff back.
ive been there a couple of times..moneys one thing cuz you cant tell whose is whos..but a camera is totally another subject..noones gonna take a nice ass camera..ive been like 3 times and havent gotten once thing stolen..only lost shit on my own haha
the office holds valuables like cash and stuff. i put my ipod in my pillowcase so when you lifted my pillow to look for anything underneath, you found nothing
my roomate had his ipod stolen but it was for some reason returned the last day of camp
i didnt really bring any valuables but stuff definitely got stolen there, plenty of small cash and electronics, never heard of something like a good camera getting jacked though
Wow.... im bringing the exact same camera to the exact same camp on the exact same session. Im planning to bring a few locks and keep my suitcase locked with the case locked to the inside under a pile of clothes. That combined with everyone there being pretty chill i think itll be safe.
i wouldnt be really worried if i were you... i dont remember any thefts at all when i was there last year. plus the office etc. sounds like this summer will see some good footy actually, not just the camp filmer. im stoked!
Camper staff is a scholarship kind of program, to help select few pay for their camp week. To be eligible, you have to apply earlier in the year usually, go to at least a full paid week in the same summer. The work is cleaning rooms and making beds on sunday, doing dishes, unclogging toilets.. All to have your camp paid for except for lift tickets. If you are camper staff you have to pay 250$ for the week for the 5 lifts tickets from timberline.
Its a great alternative if you are thinking of going to MHSSC for 2 weeks or more.
