Legal Advice/texting for VT

so my state just banned all texting while driving and for good measure they said no phone for anyone under 18
i turn 18 next ski season so i can prbly deal/not be a dumbass around cops/use speaker etc. if i need to, but now new sites are saying that they banned all electronics while driving for anyone under 18.

Besides the fact that anyone under 30 is going to get stopped like whenever, its absolute bullshit if that part about no electronics is true.

I have mine running through my tape deck. Can i just like rip it out when i see lights flashing, or am i pretty much at the mercy of the cop?

Also does anyone know if its all electronics or just phones?

I have come to the understanding that it's phones and Ipods and what not. Like you shouldn't be fucking with your ipod whilst driving but you can still listen to it.

It's not a matter of being able to drive fine, it's whether or not It's safe. There is no reason to risk the lives of other people and your own just so you can send a stupid text to your little friends or change the song. Make a playlist, wait until you stop to text; It's not that big of a deal.

theres a no distractions law in maine, but i've never heard of anyone getting pulled over for it. i wouldnt stress.

I fully support this law. Driving while fiddling around with an electronic device with a 2 inch screen is straight up reckless.

You CAN listen to music. They just don't want people fucking around with their Ipods and cellphones while they're driving, which is really fucking dangerous.

It's not very dangerous except for young drivers and stupid people. And there are a lot of both out there.

I've been in the car with so many bad driver. Doing 65 70 down the road staring at there ipod, or looking for shit on the floor with there head down, almost hitting cars stopping for the lights. Shit like that. People are retarded. Bad drivers should get murdered.

just dont mess around with your ipod much- illegal or not
make playlist so you dont need to switch songs. or just hit next. dont scroll. scrolling is too distracting while driving.

Not crazy. Needed.

We've had this law in force for a few years now, and it's massively reduced road deaths. Trying to see what you're typing, and messing with an ipod while driving are much more distracting than phone calls.

i fully support this. doing anything while driving is a distraction that could potentially get someone killed. i've almost been creamed several times by fucking morons (and it's not just kids, it's adults too) who aren't paying attention while they mindlessly cruise down the road in their 5,000 lb death machine.

the only concern that I have is how they plan on enforcing & proving guilt in a court of law. that seems like it could become a very slippery slope.

ik, it just seems like now if a cop really wants to ruin your day he can say he thought u were texting
w/e only a few months until im 18 so hopefully it just wont be a problem

I support this law in Washington State, and advise the US to make it a national law. It's ridiculous. You can have a passenger be the "DJ" and you can text when you are: at a stoplight, pulled over, parked, whatever...

OOOOO VT is what, the last state to enforce this law? You don't need to be using your phone while driving, quit bitching about it. People in VT already don't know how to drive, and having something to distract them doesn't help.
