For only 50% park, then 1 or 2 back from true centre. With a shorter length, it shouldn't make much difference to the swing weight.

For Line i would say true centre!  Line make there sis to be mounted there. All my line skis have been mounted centre and they ski great all over the mountain!

yea go center... skiing from center bindings actually r better for me and some ppl... the carvaing isnt to different and... line makes skiis so u center them,... this is so theey have the least chance of breakign in the park

Both of the above comments are incorrect.

This is not only utter bullshit, but written in a way that makes you sound like even more of a retard.

CCs are not symmetrical, and as such the recommended mount is NOT true centre.

Line makes SOME of their skis, namely the Anthem, Afterbang and Invader to be centre mounted. All their other skis have recommended mounts back from centre.

If you don't know what you're talking about, don't give advice. Because if you give incorrect advice, and someone follows it, you'll be responsible for the ill effects.

Center all you do is get used to it.

well its just that i have always had my skis mounted a further back from center and i really enjoy skiing the groomers but if i did put my binding at true center can someone tell me what it would feel like?, whats the reasoning behind the difference in feeling on the groomers when mounting true center?

If you're going 50/50 mount 2 1/2 back TRUST ME.

To be honest, you probably wont notice a lot of difference, unless you've been riding skis that are mounted real far back (-5 etc).

I prefer a center mount, but everyone has different preference.  Have you ever skied a center mounted ski?  It's fun, doesn't hinder carving ability that much if you are a good skier, and it just makes park so much better.  I don't know why people go 1 back, just go center, 1 back from center is not going to make any significant difference.  If you are going that far, go all the way.  I would say a few back if you are new to center mounted skis.

do you have the skis yet? look on the top- the recommended mount line is a bit back, maybe -2? I don't know. I mounted mine at the recommended line because apparently it fucks with the dynamics of the ski. centermount a symmetrical ski, keep your unsymmetrical skis a bit back.

I had mine mounted at Line's recommended location. I think its about -2 or 3from center. they feel pretty good, much closer to center compared to my k2 PE's. If you ride all mountain, center mounting usually isn't a good idea for most people. For the Chronic series, I think the stock location is best, A-bangs etc... are a different story.

Yeah i just got my skis, and they had a mark like -2 from center that says mid sole, i am just going to mount them there because i want to be able to do groomers and this isn't dramatically effect the balance when stomping in the park. But thanks guys

Im also kinda curious for what binding to put on them. I dont know much about the differences between bindings other than the DIN max. Ill try to get one with DIN max 12 and dont really give a crap about weight since they are all light. I ski 65/35 mountain/park and have been skiing since I was 5 so I'm pretty advanced. Any recommendations?

I have 178 CCs and mounted mine at true centre, as expected great in the park, and fine on groomers, still held an edge.

if your still in two minds about mounting position, maybe look into getting some schizo's? bit heavier, but won't really affect your swing weight.

im also sorta wondering this, ill be doing pretty much 100% park

I don't understand why people say -2 will be better than center...it's not the recommended mounting point so it will STILL not carve at it's best. There are really only two places a binding should be considered to be mounted at - recommended core center or true dead center (and that should only be the choice if you're doing pretty much 100% park with the ski). It's personal preference as to which you choose, will a ski work at true center, yes, it will still work just fine, it'll work amazingly on rails, it'll just feel a little different while carving (however you can get used to it pretty easily). On the other hand, core center (recommended mounting point - which is -5 from true center on the CC I believe) will really carve well, it'll just be a bit more awkward on rails than center (again, something you can get used to).

so ultimately, if im doing majority park, i should centre mount for best park performance

I'm not sure if this info will help... however thought I would mention some personal experiences, as these forums have helped me so much in the past.

I have a pair of 2013 Line Chronic's (185 cm), with Marker Jester Schizo bindings.
I'm certainly not saying schizo bindings are as good as fixed mount, they feel a little heavier, however they give you an excellent amount of freedom, when it comes to tinkering with your binding position.
Its certainly worth looking into, if you're not sure.

I found it really helped, being able to position bindings further aft, in waist plus, deep powder.
The Chronic's were tough work in deep powder, when it came to traversing or not so steep sections, however fun in the steep sections!

I found I mostly skied groomers, switch and some park, with mid boot around mid sole position and this seemed pretty good.
With the Schizos, I could have easily gone forward another three centre metres, which I'll try next time I ski them... I think this would be good for riding rails, etc?

I recently bought a second pair of skis, Line Sir Francis Bacons (184 cm), with Tyrolia Attack 16 bindings, as wanted something for deep Japanese powder.
They feel lighter than my Chronic/ Schizo set up, which personally, I'm pleased about. I will weigh them sometime :)
My point here is, the ski shop I bought them from was persistent, in mounting the bindings at the -2 cm position, as this is where Eric Pollard, recommends them.
This is apparently where the ski performs best, even in deep powder, therefore, I certainly followed theirs (Als Ski Barn, awesome crew!, Lines and Eric's advice!

On a more relevant note, I felt, the Chronics performed better, carving on groomers, with the bindings forward at the recommended position, compared to further back, where I had them for powder. I'm sorry I cant report how they were, even further forward, toward true centre, that is something Ill try next time.

In the meantime, I would personally mount fixed bindings, where Line recommends them, but that's just a personal thing.
