So is the camera on some type of 2 way joint on the front? And does one person fly while the other aims the camera? The heli shots are sick though, I'd be afraid of crashing it. Maybe a parachute if it dies mid air or something?
that's sick, how'd you set it up and what camera are you using? cause i remember some kid talking about making one with a gopro but your shots look nicer.
but just let me warn you, when you're filming on a mountain you can get a lot of windbursts that could possibly wreck your cam..... it'd be a shame if this baby would crash because you forgot about the wind...
Woah, that's amazing! The footage looks awesome as well. Was there a way you could see what you were filming? Or did you just have to guess that the subject was in the frame?
that was so fucking tight. I wanted to do this this season but didnt have the cash. I can't wait to see the shots you'l be able to get with this, your already way up there in my books so.
One of my friends is really into RC stuff and has a really decent heli. How would you go about setting up a live video feed / controlling of the camera?
That was their music in the video? Sick, I was stoked on the music as soon as the edit started hahaha.
And props to you mr. Palmer for making one of the dopest camera rigs I have seen in a while. Please get tons of shots with that, I really want to see some more.
I was recently looking into purchasing a housing unit heli for my 1dmk3 and doing some stills from above, great to see someone went ahead and built one themselves... I was just planning on buying a prebuilt as I wouldn't trust my engineering with all my equipment.
I was considering putting one together with my camera for aerial shots, but the rig ended up being like 4 grand.
We were trying to get stabilizers for the heli so we don't shit our pants every time we fly but stabalizers for windy conditions are expensive as hell. I'm glad to see a young avid videographer taking the risk to get some shots. Be careful out there though...
