Karma out of control

I don't really give a fuck about karma but I have noticed that it keeps getting higher and higher. Shouldn't it have a limit? What's going to happen when someone has 1,000,000,000 karma? I don't really understand the system. Is it based on how many members there are? I also have yet to see a positive thing come from it. I think feedback is way more useful.

I find karma can sometimes be helpfull for things such as purchases, yes i know there is a feedback system but im just saying when i buy from a member with 100k+ karma i know they have contributed alot to the site, therefore reassuring my confidence in the purchase.
