Spike Lee: Great American Artist? +K!

I have to finish up my research paper on how Spike Lee was a great American Artist. If you contribute to this thread positively I'll give you plus K. No idea is too stupid or far-fetched, tomorrow is my last day of high school classes, so I've obviously been slacking to an extent. I've written 3/5 pages, but I've exhausted all my ideas. If your idea is good enough/ specific enough I'll cite you in my paper as well.

The dude has dedicated his entire career to highlighting deep racial issues that people would rather not talk about. He's raw, unbridled and passionate about everything he does. That in itself is what an artist is to me.

Spike Lee is a great american artist. Not was. You could write about how he helped start the american independent film movement with She's Gotta Have It by proving that independent films could be economically viable. I would do some more research into it before writing though
