Oh ya. That was bullshit - even if they didn't allow the goal there should've been a penalty kick for Bradley - he was held like no other

something was up with those refs for real, the worst calls ive ever fucking seen. USA won that game so fuck those refs. they dont know the difference between hands and a players head seeing they called 2 handballs when the ball hit the usa players in the face, and the one guy finley cant play next game, complete bullshit. all around bullshit calls, put USA played amazing and deserved the win.

USA should have won 3-2. That was bullshit. That ref should be fired by FIFA on the spot for that one...

Anyways... the USA shouldn't have come out so shitty in the first half, and we wouldn't have needed a 3rd goal to win it.... but AWESOME finish! Way to step up and play like that. If they come out like that against Algeria, they'll surely put up 2 or 3 goals on them.

That said... ENGLAND... We need your help! We helped you in ww2, time for some favour payin! haha. MURDER the Slovenes in your next game. Kthnxbye.

Terrible refereeing throughout the majority of the game. They effectively decided the outcome of the game with one of the most mind boggling calls I've seen.

It was as bad as that baseball hoopla a few weeks ago, except on a whole other level as far as importance goes.

here're the only two fair scenarios:

1. goal is kept because it was blatantly NOT offsides

2. PK is called due to the two fouls inside the box which most likely results in a US goal either way

that was ridiculous, he completely blew the game for the us and made it so much harder for them to advance. now england and slovenia can't tie and us has to beat algeria otherwise we're fudged. I HATE THAT GUY!!

Initially I was outraged as well. I really want to see a North American team do well, so I'm definitely rooting for the USA to advance.

Coming from experience though, that was an extremely tough call to make. The goal scorer was most certainly not offside. Bradley, bear-hug or no bear-hug, was offside (if only by a hair). Whether he was involved in the play or not is debatable. I would say he was. Although he didn't touch the ball, he made an attempt to, and in that effort drew many Slovenian players towards him. I'd call that fairly 'involved'. So upon reflection I think offside was the right call.

Should there have been a foul? Probably. But something like that is probably not going to be called in the last 5 minutes of the game because it would be a match decider. A blatant tackle from behind, yes, but some grabbing? If the US got a PK against them for that and lost the game because of it I'm certain everyone here would be outraged.

So yeah, it looks like the US got robbed here, but as a referee I respect the call... it was the right one.

That call was terrible, I just watched the game on espn3. I've been playing soccer for like 12 years and that really was a bad call. The goal was great, the call sucked. He wasn't off and he and others were getting grabbed.  Oh my god I can't believe that...

I hope you're not referring to Bradley when you're saying he was not offside. Because then you'd need another 12 years. He was offside by his leading leg. If you're referring to the goal scorer, you're right, he wasn't off. But Bradley was involved. Sorry.

Watch the replay, Bradley was not offsides. And every Slovene player was physically holding back the US players, so I just do not understand how you think that ref made the right call. the us deserved that goal. It doesnt matter if its the last fucking second of the game, as a ref you have to let the game play out and not just think "oh well I don't want to give em a goal cause the games almost over." Seriously if you really are a ref, I hope you don't call shit like this guy.

Dude, I dont think the call was even offside. The ref called a foul against the us, The ar did not raise his flag to make the offside call. Show me the actual replay where you believe the call is offside

Goal scorer. Bradely was in front of that guy but was being held onto. So I guess it was technically offsides. But how can the ref not take all the players bear hugging the US players into consideration?

a lot of you are arguing over the whole offside thing, and i'm not sure, but i think the ref might've actually called a foul against the US, not offside. Not 100% sure though, I didn't actually catch the goal, I just saw the replays right after it happened

Well bradley was kinda playin like shit, the only reason he scored that is cause he was finally in an attacking/good position. I get tired of seeing them put balls through and no one is there. Hopefully Bradley learned something from this and he will get his ass up there more, thats where to be scoring goals. Not way the fuck out of the 18'

Not sure about whether or not it was an offside call or not. I did see the replay with the correct angle and field fading (to show the line of the second last defedending) and it was definitely offside. I will have to find it for you on my lunch break.

I don't referee currently, but when I did I would have been proud to make a call like that one. Do you have any clue how hard it is to spot someone who is a hair offside in a clusterfuck like that? While paying attention to everything else? It definitely does matter what stage of the match it is in. I said it before and I'll say it again, if the US got a PK called against them in the last few minutes for a hold that didn't even prevent a scoring change, lost the game, and got eliminated in Group play, there would be wayyyy more outrage. If everything that occured in the box was called, you'd be seeing 10-7 scores.

I just saw on ESPN on a phone call, Fifa is saying the ref said there was a foul against Edu. After watching the replay, that simply did not happen. Yes it is actually physically impossible to see an offside if its a close hair, that is why you don't call that unless you are just being an asshole. Im pretty sure the fifa rule is you have to have a part of your leg ahead of the defender. However, those field fading angles are not correct from the angle the fans are watching. Only the AR can see it the best. You should have seen the game yesterday France vs Mexico. That one guy had a good step ahead as he was starting his run and the AR let him go and people were ok with that, even France.

Thats what pisses me off is the ref in this game was trying to stop goals from getting scored just for the sake of not letting them play the game and score goals It shows how other countries hate the US.

No I'm pretty sure the AR had his flag up, but it was with reference to the other guys uninvolved in the play, not Edu. It was unclear at that point who was doing what and it was well done by the AR, just very poorly interpreted by the center.

Regardless of whether or not Bradley was offsides (its a matter of inches), there is no fucking way that he was involved in the play. He made the run to the near post but got bear hugged and never made an effort to move toward the ball which was played in behind him.

The probkem is that the ref never made it clear what the call actually was. At the end of the game Donovan and everyone else was asking for an explanation on the call and nobody got one.

That being said, the U.S. needs to stop playing half-asleep at the beginning of each game. We knew that we were favored coming into the game and we got lazy. Hopefully we don't make the same mistake against Algeria or else we're out.

Yeah, I haven't been commenting on whether there was a foul or not... I didn't realize that was the official call. I'll have to have another look but I don't remember seeing one. I think you're right on the leg rule. From what I saw in the Mexico game, it was a perfectly timed run because when the ball was sent though both his feet were onside. Again.. inches though. But none of this matters I suppose because offside wasn't the call.

But the spere-- I'd have to disagree with you on play involvement. That rule is in place to exclude the guy on the opposite wing of the field who has no chance in hell of touching the ball. Since there are no delayed offsides in soccer (anymore) is in a position to influence the play he is offside. I suppose it's a matter of opinion, but I definitely think Bradley was in a position of involvement and/or had a reasonable chance of touching the ball.

Whatever though. USA should still advance. All is well.
