Lawl what an upset. The swiss were ranked 24, right? And Spain is 2? YESSSS talk about WC underdog victories right there. Shit's nuts.

The Swiss forwards did a real good job. Spain was super strong upfront and in the midfield but it seemed like if the Swiss made it past midfield, the Spanish defense would just let them through...

I cant believe this, good stuff. I tried to find a video of the goal but cant find it anywhere, have you found one yet? Not interested in watching Chile today but definitely wanna post up and watch Messi dangle tomorrow

Wow switzerland won. I missed the game cause I was at school but i saw most of the chile game. I didn't find a video of the switz goal yet though.

Yea, they were coming down, the spain goalie came out and dove at the ball, also hitting the swiss player, making the swiss player almost flip while sorta doing a rainbow unintentionally with the ball right to his teammate, and then he shot, and a spain defender slid, stopped the ball and the swiss guy then kicked it in. There also might have been a handball in it, I'm sure it will be all over sports center and youtube in time

Ya, I missed it - I'm pissed. I tried to catch it on SportsCenter right after but missed that too. Regardless of how pretty it is, I want to see it so if anyone finds it...post it!

Also - how dirty was that attempt in the second half where the Swiss forward took the through ball into the box, threaded two defenders, and played it off the outside of the foot...into the post! GAH HOLY SHIT.

You guys know fifa.com has like all the highlights, photos and other stuff. And matchcast, that's what i've been doing in school if I can't get espn3.com to work. It's like constantly updated play by play, no video or anything though.

Most of the matches people thought were going to be one sided aren't turning out that way. The underdogs really want it. The Swiss goal was kinda lucky though, he got tripped into some sort of ninja flip and accidentally hit the ball like you guys said. Spain had a few nice shots too.

ya tru, but like i dunno, usually when it looks like the ball is gonna be a bit over the bar, the goalie still goes and puts his hand up just in case, seems like this guy waited til the last second really

I didn't think that was going in either, especially after hitting the SA player first. Tshabalala  (Spelled right? I doubt it) needs to chill out and concentrate when he shoots. He's probably stoked to score another goal with his country watching, but I think it's getting to his head. He keeps sending over the net.

dissapointed with my spanish boys. switzerland defended their goal like their lives were on the line, and did a good job.

but to be honest, i'm not too worried about spain. once torres is in prime condition his goal scoring ass can get back in there and tear it up like the last world cup. they'll still do well.

F that, it looked like the goalie didnt even touch that guy and he falls down. As a ref, I would not have called at all probably. South Africa is done. Their fans are badass, they are gonna be bummed.

that goalie hardly touched the guy. you see their toes tapped and then the guy makes a face like hes just been shot and anally raped at the same time.
but either way, the goalies really blew it.... i mean they might have lost 1-0 if it never happened, but at least there was a chance

That ball is fine, its just Forlain put some crazy spin on it and kicked it at the perfect power. Honestly the only thing that really bothers me about a ball is if its not aired up enough. Other than that, you have to adapt to the ball.
Diego Forlain is crazy good though, I don't really like him, I hope the US kicks their ass if we play them.



And seriously F that penalty kick. Goalies have protection against shit like that, maybe the ref forgot that or was in a horrible position to see it. Stupid goal to allow. However, a referee is part of the game of soccer just as much as the ball is and I enjoy how that is sometimes, but when you get calls like this, it bugs me. I guess in the end, the better team won though.

im sure adidas engineers working for many years with players from different leagues to make a ball for the world arent gonna come up with shit. people complained about the teamgeist ball for the 2006 world cup too.

everyone needs to stop complaining about the ball, the people who made it know more about the physics involved in soccer with the ball than all of america does put together. there will always be critics and people who don't like the ball, but when it comes down to it its great new technology that was not just put out there without years and years of small changes and thought.

yeh im pretty sure everything down to the graphic on the ball is designed to get more goals to increase interest in the sport. ive heard the graphic is supposed to confuse goalies when its sailing towards them. this is all completely just hearsay talking with friends while watching the games so i really have no idea of its validity.

So my 20 dollar bet on Germany is looking better and better! It was a payout of 1400 for every 100 bet, now its down to 850 (or maybe even less since Spain lost a game)

as for the jabulani, watch the goal china scored vs france. It threw off lloris, and he's a damn good keeper. It went to his right, then mid-air, changed directions, and went left. I've played with 1 of the match balls, and it fucks with you, no doubt about it. The teamgeist was a strange ball, but it was predictable. Rather than having traditional spin, it knuckled, and it was consistent. The jabulani however, has not yet shown me a single consistent trait. Trying to save a freekick, you'll track it coming in to your left, and start moving that way, and then it will seem almost as if it took a deflection, and go off to your right. Or it will take a random dip, or start rising. And keep in mind this is me playing with my buddies, not pros who practice all day.
