that fucking hand ball on muller was not deserving of a card.  that was such fucking bullshit.  no he is going ot miss the semis. fucking horse shit.  but on another note, germany is dominating this game so far.  argentina is good, but i just dont think they have the stuff to take down the germans.

argentina is generating some good chances but germany is breaking through too easily and forcing argentina to make hero slides. they have too many defensive holes

Germany is playing like a team. I regularly count like 9 guys on defense, as well as in the middle and attacking when necessary. They're all moving with the ball, not sending like 3 guys up and holding the rest back. When they need defense, they have a ton of guys and can stop Messi and whoever else. And Podolski's unselfish pass just shows how much of a team they are. I'd bet most of Argentina's forwards would have taken a shot.  Thier defense is dying as I type.

Annnnddd now they're dead. Nice goal.

Argentina - ripped to shreds. That wasn't a defeat, that was humiliation. Germany absolutely wrecked them, and the pieces just came apart.

It just goes to show you a team with 2-3 great players isn't as good as well knit all around team. Sorry, Messi.

im getting so hammered tonight to celebrate our win!  germany played perfectly.  got a little scared in the beginning of the 2nd half but then when the 2nd goal was scored i knew it was over, and we had it in the bag.   54,74,90,10!!!!

Exactly as I said yesterday, Germany is WAY too explosive for Argentina's loose defense to handle.

Defensively, they seem to be rock solid as well.

That photo makes me feel terrible for Ghana. That was an extremely unfair set of circumstances. They had an absolute goal denied by blatently unfair play. There was NO way in saying that the ball was not going in and that it was not a completely blatent attempt by Suarez to knock it away with his hands. He looks like a god-damn NFL receiver in that photo.

Another unfortunate instance that is going to taint this years Cup.

Well yea I do too because a PK should be a free goal. Gyan is a great player, but damn, he had all the time in the world to take that shot and should know not to knock it too high. Suarez isn't playing in the next game and may not play in the final if they make it, so he does get punished. You do have a point though in that Ghana somehow put together a very unique team that nobody thought could make it, but they really surprised people and to go out over that. The Fifa rules on that type of situation are kind of backwards. Ghana still could have won it but they apparently forgot to practice PKs....

yeah, ghana's exit was 100% due to a shitty series of events.
but any player in the world is going to do exactly what suarez did, no matter what.
you do whatever you can to win, and suarez did precisely that.
it seems very unfair, but i refuse to call it that.

That's why a change in that rule is needed. If every player in the world is going to do the same thing, the consequences are not strong enough.

The play on the pitch was called as it should've been, and Suarez should serve a one-game suspension for the infraction. However, going forward, the laws regarding blatant handballs that stop goals needs to be seriously evaluated.

Blatant handballs that impede an otherwise direct goal should result in red-card + automatic goal. The handball no longer eliminates the goal, and the player is held accountable for his actions and punished.

The point of rules is to stop people from committing infractions that anyone would do, and if anyone would commit that same infraction, then the punishment does not fit the crime.

And yes, Ghana was awarded a PK, but PK's are not 100% guarenteed. While the majority of PK's are converted to goals, some are shot wide, some are saved. That's still a far cry from the definite goal that would have happened had it not been for Suarez's handball. 100% > 80%.

pretty sure most players wouldn't do what suarez did. i don't see how it's not unfair though, ghana was the better team and had the winning goal until uruguay put in a second goalie. gyan should have converted the penalty but going from a 100% goal to only a 50% chance (technically) of a goal is not fair. that being said suarez will definitely not play again at this world cup and rightly so.

imho he put himself into the moving legs of the defender... the defender didnt do anything but run towards the ball. that and he didnt really need to fall, a real man wouldve stayed up the extra .2 seconds and pushed that ball in IMO
