It's neither...

It's an "urbanwear" company...however, since most skiers, and plenty of snowboarders dress like urban kids on the hill it's made it's way into the wintersports community. Since it's such a popular company within the wintersports community, they've sponsored certain athletes and dug more into the community (including their relationship with Level 1), but they also have musicians and urban artists that they sponsor. I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the original intention of the company had nothing to do with skiing, but it certainly has push the company to a level that it might not have gotten to without skiing.

Before anyone yells bs, read this ^. My source is straight from Gabe's mouth.

Jiberish's success with skiers and snowboarders has given them the ability and credibility to broaden their target market a bit and they are aiming to appeal to the highest end "urban" boutiques whose customers aren't aware that skiing in the sense that we mean it even exists.

It's a heavily skiing focused company from what I've seen.  You probably don't see it in boarders as much because A), snowboarding is a much larger market with a ton of streetwear or companies that make sick stuff, and B) the level of the boarders isn't the same as the level of the ski team. 

Not to take anything away from the snowboard team but On the ski team is an X game winner, film stars, Euro superstar, etc.   You can't go to a big competition without seeing Jiberish on the podium and on several people in the finals.  Snowboarding doesn't have that, and far less snowboarders see Jiberish.

I like to think of Jiberish as Siver's reincarnational reward for being so virtuous while it was alive. In its past life the ski community couldn't have supported a stylish, and yet pricey, cut and sew company...but now it can.

Moral of the story: If you sponsor Nicky Adams and Neal Lyons, you get to come back as Jiberish.

everyone always mentions Joe Mango, but you can't forget Justin Norman too.  As it has been said it definitely started with more of a skiing focus, but has started to broaden more into snowboarding/skating/artists/musicians etc.

I got a lol out of one of the comments in that interview. Jiberish is produced locally? not according to the "made in china" on the tag on my electric autumn. Doesn't make a difference to me, just thought it was funny.

That interview was from 2006. And if you notice he says that they currently do it locally but that it might change in the future.

wrong. it does matter who wheres it and who wears it the most. clothing is trend. clothing is a cycle. as of now, people where what there peers where. most snowboarders and skiers are seperated in the winter industry of clothing and outerwear. i, for the most part, would probably where something that stands out and shows what "I" like. i like jiberish. but if it was a snowboarder brand more than skiing, i probably wouldnt buy it. if that all makes sense.
