Has anyone skied on both Snowflex and Powderpak surfaces? Just wondering how they compare speed wise. I know Woodward at Copper uses Snowflex and Ohio Dreams uses Powderpak.

Snowflex is a faster, longer lasting, and more consistent surface than Powderpak. We have used Powderpak the past few years on our water ramp and it served its purpose for the first 2 years. However, due to the material being more like carpet than bristles, it started matting down and collecting dirt, both of which made the surface slower and less consistent. You could edge on it, but not very well.
Snowflex is the most well known artificial snow surface, however it is also the most expensive. We looked into covering our ramps with Snowflex in the past, and it was going to cost around $300,000.
For this season we are using a surface called mSnow, which will be faster than Powderpak and provide more consistent sliding and easier edge control. It is also way cheaper than Snowflex, only about $15,000 for our hill at camp. Neveplast is another surface that you could look into that is similar to mSnow, however it is a little bit more expensive. Hopefully that helps.
