So my weekend project consisted of modding an old ski pole handle into a 5 speed shift knob. not completely finished yet, still need to cut down the boot so the handle sits lower.Click for larger imageClick for larger imageClick for larger image

Do you actually grip the shaft (lol) when changing gear though? I don't think I could shift like that

believe it or not its actually real easy once you get used to it. however, i usually just shift holding the top so i guess its more of just a fancy looking knob. but it gave my car some originality. thanks for the feedback guys haha

I've thought about doing this, but my current shift knob (2006 Impreza 2.5i) seems to be connected to the shift boot, and I'm not about to cut it

you should make the little steps that you use to get in your car skis. if youre catching me drift.

like replace those step things on the side of some cars. and make them like skis.

i mean, those little steps on the sides of cars, you should switch them with skis

kinda like little bars on the side of cars at the bottom. replace them with skis!

Drill out the center of teh grip, using table vise, good drill bit, minutely oversize.

Finger with apoexy, or don't...desired stick determination necessary.

Finish upon self reliance....

If I were you, I wouldve chosen a different ski pole grip. Like the Scott grip that has like the ball on top. But either way, thats sick.
