How do you guys discover new music?

I like a good variety of music and everytime I hear a new song I like I think "Shit I gotta find more stuff like this", but as soon as I get to Pandora it plays a bunch of stuff I don't really like. So NS what do you utilize to find new music?

hahah, i think the same thing!

i actually find alot of songs from ns, like in the top rated video section. or in playlist threads..then i type in the youtube url into dirpy and boom its on my ipod!

movies, if i hear a song i like, i go look it up. This pertains to any sort of media, (TV, movie, radio)

youtube is helpful, i listen to a song i like and look at the comments people right, people often say they sound like another band, then i look them up.

and just people in general

i usually get a ride home from a friend from college and his itunes is from 3 other friends of his. i look at his ipod when i hear something good.

here on ns

random youtube/vimeo videos

and i search through occasional blogs with download links to pages of albums i find randomly. if i see an album with a song or two i have on it, i get the rest of the album.

not able to torrent at school, so i dont have as i much as i could

There are endless amounts of blogs floating around, just google your type of music followed by blog and stuff will show up. Most blogs also have download links which rules.

i just search different artists with the word REMIX and get some cool stuff sometimes. its gets annoying though

Other kids who kinda like what I like, or sometimes those who don't. Then on here in some edits, or edits from other sites. Grooveshark and last.fm too, I just keep clicking around until I find something I like.

I have a lot of friends who are super into music, and I tend to get a LOT of stuff from them.

Searchbar will honestly give you a ton of good music, I always search various musical keywords, and come up with great stuff every time.

What kind of stuff do you like? I'm feeling nice and if I have any recommendations I'll write a few out.

Also when Im in different cities and see those random gangster ass lookin dudes sellin CD's i buy them. You get disappointed a lot, but like today in NYC i hit a good one. Paid this dude $4 he wanted $15 and now i kinda feel bad. It was definitely worth $15.

i work as an electro house producer and DJ and spend hours every day looking for new music...

Beatport.com is my best friend... YouTube is often very awesome.... i come to NS when i'm bored and Beatport and YouTube aren't offering me anything.

but seriously, Beatport.com is amazing. find the songs you like there, search elsewhere to download.

Hiphop - usually by word of mouth, people telling me about albums/groups, etc.

Punk/metal/ska - I pretty much don't like any of the new bands coming out these days so i'll just occasionally buy a cd if one of my old favorites does a new album. Occasionally I'll go by Headline Records in LA and see whats up. Amoeba never has anything good though.

DnB/Reggae - I waste hours and hours of my life scouring through dead links and seedless torrents to find obscure sets, dubplates, and rare gems. Soulseek used to be awesome for this because you could actually hang out in chat rooms and talk to people about what awesome sets and albums they had, then just dl directly from that person, but no one really uses soulseek anymore.
