"my alaska" teaser

this is the teaser for the final chapter of buttery fresh productions (which i'm sure you've never heard of). it features all alaskan riders, shot only in alaska. we want to share the experience of our state with you. enjoy "my alaksa".

I'm more of a fan of MSP and TGR.  I also wish Wink productions would do something else, as Waiting Game and Respect were sick. 

There have been some great movies which center around big mountain skiing and do not use helicopters.  Scott Gaffney's 1999, and Immersion for instance.  I have seen some great Alaska TR's  stuff on TGR that was done without heli's. 

I'm sure a terrific BC movie could be made in AK without helis.  It has been done in Tahoe.  That does not mean it would be easy.  The California and Utah snowpacks are tough enough to negotiate, I can't imagine AK would be a piece of cake.

This is not a criticism, as you guys have some sick shots.  I understand if your focus is more park/urban than big mountain.

you're right, regretfully it was meant to be backhanded. i was more gearing towards the fact that we do spend more than half our time in the backcountry, but our preference is more towards filming jumps than skiing lines. when lines are there to be skied, we would rather ski them than have to hang out and film them. there is not a doubt in my mind that great backcountry segments have been filmed without the aide of helicopters, and i wasn't trying to imply that was the reason why we didn't have any huge lines.

you must agree, that guy was a bit pompous? hence my reaction.

I agree that the post seemed a bit pompous, and don't blame you for your reaction.

I also agree completely about wanting to ski bc/big mountain stuff rather than film it.  It takes a long time to set up shots, and that is time that could be spent hitting big terrain.  This is particularly true with in bounds filming.  I always wished I had more footage of myself on Squaw powder days, but getting such footage requires slowing down to set things up.  With the rate at which Squaw gets tracked out you will definitely lose some good stuff if you film.

yeah man, we have done some pov stuff, but from a film making standpoint, we believe it has almost been played out over the past few years. its like a dash of salt and pepper, its necessary to a bc edit, but when overdone, it can overpower what is really there.

and as far as too much boarding from a few posts ago, sorry dude, but that is just the snowsports that my friends and i have chosen to do, can't we all just get along?

haha nice man... you just made me real hungry.  havent had caribou in almost 3 years, but we have a ton of moose so i cant complain (my dad and I both got pretty big bulls this fall).  you know your from alaska when you eat moose or caribou at least 3 times a week

haha werd my dads going for a bull up north this year, our last moose last us two years! but in august my dad and i are going up to the alaska range for dall sheep! witch are reaally good in gyros!

dall sheep is by far the best meet ive ever had.  my dad has drawin tok management area 2 times! both were successes.  lucky bastard haha. ive tried twice to get a sheep in the wrangles.  dall sheep hunts are my favorite mostly because i just love the mountains, but in both of my tries we didnt get any. the first trip we saw a legal ram and then a rain storm came in...i wasnt stoked haha.  good luck man! my dad wants to give the wrangles another shot, but i had ankle surgery at the end of feb. and im still recovering, and i doubt that i can do something like a sheep hunt this year... if you get one you should post some pics on NS and let me know, i get way stoked by big ol' ram pics.  

i went moose hunting just north of the alaskan range last fall, and i could see lots of sheep with the spoting scope, including some rams, in the mountians.... should be an awesome hunt for you!
