MAN this guy just makes me want to kick the shit out of any body who would ever try to do this to me.

yeah it has the potential to be really bad. which is why i hope that kid got fired. guy shouldnt have fought him but that kid should know better too, esp being an employee

fired for that? That'd be ridiculous. It was an unfortunate accident, and the kid was at fault, but nothing about that warrants his being fired.

Yeah, it wasn't the brightest move, obviously, but I'd say it was well short of willful negligence.

They weren't ducking ropes, and weren't out of bounds. The two trails merge, albeit dangerously, and it was an unfortunate accident. Also, the filmer clearly signaled that the coast was clear. It was a perfect storm of unfortunate factors.

I still can't figure out how the kid wasn't able to avoid the guy. He must be a really shitty skier.

lots of employees don't know too much. they are often transplants from warm lands and coming to work at a winter resort is like vacation for them. Its hard to understand some of those rules sometimes. Its too bad that both skiers were blind, but the spotter (camera guy) should have been blocking off that section of the run. stuff like that happens all the time, spotters (typically) should be held accountable more often then the skiers involved.

Chances are that old cooz doesn't like terrain parks much and thought those ausseyes were punks bcoz hes an old cooz he thought , "fuckin kids, Im gonnu get that kid, Prolly has gravy coloured hair.. Im gonnu murder him bcoz Ive got the right".

Ive seen lots of collisions, its always better when your on the chair watching them, than being part of them. I try to be careful, specially when Im skiing with little rug rats, I send them off jumps all the time, and Im always spotting, but blocking off the jump and out runs/in runs.

it looked to me like the kid hit that small drop and kinda lost control for a second so he couldnt slow down in order to avoid the guy. it was still kinda his fault but more just really bad luck.

It was an accident, accidents happen. The employee apologized and NO ONE WAS HURT, so lay off the guy. He apologized and kept his cool when the other guy was looking for a fight. No need to be so harsh, nobody thinks you're cooler because of it.

i can't really take a side on this one, i just thought it was funny.
props to the kids for keeping their cool. but after watching the collision a few times the one kid was kinda in the wrong.

had almost the same thing happen. except the dude i accidentaly hit didn't flip a bitch. but he did threaten to sue me. and i had to explain myself to the ski patrol.

Most people have the brains to understand "the skiers responsibility code" by the time they are about 5 years old, what happened to you?

Just because it's not a slow zone doesn't mean that you don't have be able to avoid a downhill skier. Maybe he was standing there because he was in the process of getting up after a fall, for all you know.

I'm not going to pretend I've never taken lots of speed over a blind knoll, BUT if I ever did that and hit someone, I sure wouldn't have the audacity to pretend it wasn't my fault.

It's 100% your responsibility to avoid the downhill person, period, end of story! That rule takes precedence over "don't stand in blind spots", because: Someone could be in a blind spot due to a fall, or because they had to avoid someone below them, or because they are a super slow beginner, whatever etc. Therefore the uphill skier is ALWAYS responsible for avoiding people downhill of them, regardless of what idiotic reason said person might have for being in a stupid spot.

Fucking unbelievable that you could pretend you are not at fault for hitting someone downhill of you.

Not trying to argue or anything, just trying to clear this up for myself as I have always wondered this.

Wouldn't the guy that flipped shit in the video be in the wrong? Because he technically was the uphill skier, with the front of his body hitting the side/back of the other guy. Or is there some other rule that over rides this?

I see what you are saying, but it's not really, because the younger guy came in on the old grumpy dude from above (just not on the same run), so even though the old guy's front made contact, he was still basically hit from above (guy coming down at him from higher elevation). Similar to if you were to run over the front of someone's skis who is below you, while they are cutting hard across fall line.

The one in the video was the young guys fault, but it looked like nobody was hurt so IMO the old guy was still way out of line and overreacting.
