Nikon D5000

So I just got a Nikon D5000, and I've been shooting some pretty basic pictures, cool stuff but very basic.

I need new ideas, and I'd like to begin messing with shutter speeds, Iso sensitivity, and all that. I've read the manuals but they're not very helpful.

Any suggestions?

Check out this web site. It's a good way to figure out what different settings due to effect the way a picture turns out. Have fun with it and don't get hung up on small shit.
