Did anybody who just watched the mentalist understand it whatsoever. I didn't understand the ending at all. Does anyone what to help me out?

i watched it again afterwards and im still fucking confused.... like the ending made no sense whatsoever to me. it might be because i didnt see some of the beginning episodes though.
