i've painted with oils for over 10 years and i've very much accustomed to it. i've also stopped painting for about two years because my life got crazy hectic with school and running around and whatnot, so i was just wondering if anyone out here was a painter as well and who used acrylic or any other type of paint and what they liked best about it, how the mixing went, how applying etc. with oils generally you'd start with dark paint first and gradually lighten until you have to put it away for a week to dry, which i guess is what frustrates me the most about oils. i have a huge canvas i want to tackle, and probably will end up using my oils, but i was just curious about other peoples experiences with other types of paints. i know now a lot of people use acrylic because it dries fast, but i've never really discussed application and mixing with anyone.
personally i like watercolor with goauche and gum aribic, it dries fairly fast and looks very smooth. you can lift it and blend it easliy and is reactivated with water. heres a piece i just made with it
as far as acrilic i like it cus it dries fast but you cant lift or reactivate it.
