When i moved over here from the UK, I went to do my driving test etc and i couldn't believe how easy it was to get my license. India has a harder driving test! And what's more, you get three goes at both the theory test (multiple guess piece of piss test) and the practical (essentially drive around the block and park) in one sitting.
One thing i HATE about driving in America is my fear of exactly this happening. Because the concept of a roundabout is far too difficult for people to understand, you have "Stop" signs and then intersections. I've seen people boost through both red lights and stop signs and it scares the crap out of me.... every time i approach a side st with a stop sign i slow right down and try to make sure nobody is going to come boosting through and T Bone me.
If you all just had roundabouts, so many of these would be avoided... plus traffic would flow better as it's constantly moving, not stopping for red lights all the time.
Sorry, this is just my pet hate with living in America and this gave me the opportunity to rant about it. And yes, there are shit drivers everywhere, but nowhere have i ever come across this many people who run red lights etc - i see it EVERY day here and i have had friends who've been t boned by people doing it... their excuse is always just - I never saw it... fucktards.
that said - right turn on red is the greatest driving law on the planet - an ounce of common sense in an otherwise crazy driving society.
