I need some new shorts and cant really decide, any advice?
also need some new shoes because mine are a little to narrow and I have a waide ass foot? can anyone give me some wide shoe brands?

i use specialized shoes... they are about 5 years old though. i also buy an use specilized shammis (sp?). i have found that they work great and i own 3 different shorts since 2008 and they got me accross the country and through my first ear of college cycling with no chaff. i would strongly recomend them.

are you racing for a school, company team, or just for the hell of it? and where at? glad to see other nsers out there road racin!

i road biked for years i suggest that you get some Louis Garneau bibs, so comfy. and my personal favorite shoes were always Sidi but i have more of an average foot. how long is your race this weekend?

I'm just starting to, my dad does a ton. I just recently bought shorts and they are Pearl Izumi's, I love them. They were like $85. I think that Gore, Louis Garneau and Performance are good too. It just depends on how much you want to spend on them. As for shoes, I'm not sure what fits a wide foot, I would go into a good bike shop and talk to someone in there, they'll be able to help more than anyone.

And I started last year after my High Jump coach did the LP iron man got me interested in doing Tri's since im done with track.

And its just an ind. race. 50 miler my first one and im pumped

i hope you know tactis and shit. dont ever pull, lead into a climb to set the pace for the climb if you are not a good climber, look for the strongest rider and stay on his wheel. eat some food while riding, take small sips of water every 2-5 miles. those are some beginner advice right there. if you know what to do then im sure you will be fine! let us know how you do.

I used to ride around on a road bike from 1972 and would pass those fuckers in the tight shorts all the time. I live in a very hilly area and it was my only form of transportation until I was 17. I need to find another bike soon. I'm getting out of shape.

if you are talking about distance running and how you should save a little for the end to give you that "kick" then yes. just be aware or the people around you and such. i know a lot of cyclists where were distance runners and made a very easy transition to road cycling. i will say that it does take some time to figure out how to win. i had about 10 races under my belt with the same group of riders until i finally won a race. patience is the key, i think, to racing bikes.

go for bibs! once you go bibs, youll never put on shorts again. i rock Zipps and theyre super comfy, and cheap on bonktown. keep an eye on bonktown.com and youll get a deal.
