Tobacco in skiing

tobacco belongs nowhere in advertising of skiing. little kids are looking up to these guys, a lot of whom are now sponsored by this General shit. tobacco advertising is not legal in TV or movies, why the hell should it be legal in videos or websites, especially ones showing athletes who little groms idolize.

kids buy red bull because pros drink it. kids buy skis because they are what their favorite skiers ride. kids buy clothes and outerwear because its what's steezy these days. why do you think smoking or chewing would be any different? i have no problem with somebody smoking or chewing, or whatever, but if some kid does it because peter olenick does, thats fucked up.

pretty irresponsible if you ask me. Sure it's money for Freeskier, which means money for the ski industry overall. But is it really worth the money to compromise morals? With this attitude, who knows what freeskier could end up endorsing. Like I said, it's stupid and irresponsible. Which Freeskier executive with his head up his ass approved this?

OP is a huge pussy.

1) Tobacco pretty much ONLY advertises in sports and magazines because liberal douchebags made them not able to advertise on tv anymore. This is nothing new, at all.

2) Who the fuck cares? If someone uses tobacco its their own decision, just because some snus company sponsors a skier doesn't mean every kid that likes that skier is going to start using them. And if they do fuck them for being dumbasses.

3) If it was an advertisement for Jeagermeister you would have thought it was cool. A drug is a drug buddy.

I hate it when teachers/counsellors at my school complain about tobacco advertising. They complain that they make smoking look like a positive thing, which is a fucking stupid thing to say because why would they advertise their product as a negative thing? Tobacco companies are a business, they need to advertise (in a positive matter) in order to sell their product. My english teacher even went as far as calling tobacco advertisements "propaganda"..no shit, all commercials are basically propaganda. And when I called her out on that, she just threw some stats at me about kids smoking or something, which was totally not what I was arguing about, and tried to make me look like the devils advocate in front of the entire class. Fuck grade 10.

You sound like a damn anti-smoking campaign. A drug is a drug. There are many people that enjoy tobacco responsibly. These people include occasional cigar and pipe smokers, and basically the entire middle east (because they smoke hookah tobacco which was such low nicotine and tar content its really not very bad for you).

kids buy redbull because it taste good, kids buy skis because they need them/like the graphic/like performance, kids buy the outerwear they think is cool not just because someone rides for them. your logic fucking sucks. i will admit that the 12 year olds on this sight are a bit more susceptible to advertising from pros, but they soon learn to think for them self.

if freeskier wants to run tabacco adds, let them run it! they have to make money somehow, not to mention the largest demographic reading freeskier is older then 18(this was talked about on the ski show) so if a person of legal age wants to smoke/chew then who the fuck cares, not like it affects you in anyway. and if you really think that an add in a shitty magazine is a big deal, then you are way to much of an anal bitch who needs to get their priorities straight

you obviously didnt read my entire post, because i said i dont care if some one uses tobacco at a legal age. i just dont think it belongs on sites with such a low age demographic. sure, the majority of freeskier magazine readers are over 18, but the majority of people are over 18. there are a shitload of kids seeing these ads, and seeing that their idols are using tobacco. look, getting half your jaw amputated because you get mouth cancer isnt cool. the fact that things that are known to cause cancer are even legal isnt cool. plus, you are going way beyond any of what i said. i believe i voiced my opinion respectfully and you go on to call me an anal bitch. fuck off.
