Anyone on Ns a ruckus owner- I am now addicted and need one so bad- I guess a shitload of car guys are buying them now-

for those not in the know its basically a 50cc scooter that gets 100 mpg and you can do any modicifcation possible to it- ie motor swaps, turbo, new exhaust, boring it out- basically whatever you want

im trying to pick up a used one ( they are 2000 new) and basically turn it into a fucking kick ass commuter for school and shit- im talking offroad tires, big ass rally lights, swap a motor and turbo it-i just want something that i can bet the shit out of and still get 100 mpg

The pros hugely outweigh the cons.  the only con is it cant go on highways, but i dont need to much anyways.
I own a metro, but want to get a ruckus sometime

I've ridden in HUGE packs of harleys for work, and it blows and I hate it, but that vid was pretty cool. I've never seen that before. Anybody own a Wheelman? I still want one, and now I live in a place where i can ride one.

I dunno this dude, but hes got the same tomos as me with a different pipe, but mopeds are the best. ruckus' are pretty ill too.

two of my friends have them.  1 is hooked up to the max for being the 50cc motor.  the other is just finishing up a 150cc swap.  it'll go on highways and still get 70+mpgs.  not sure if i would do highway speeds on those and feel comfortable.  could get kinda sketchy.

Seriously??? A scooter?? It may be fun and all but I wouldn't ride one on the road. You don know a newish kawi ninja 250 goes for about the same price and still gets 50 mpg or so?? It'll zip up over 100 mph as well so they are quite fun. I already feel like a pussy on the 250, no way I'd climb on one of those things.


On the other hand I do have a honda 50 dirtbike that was my bros, and that things is great in the grass and through fields and stuff. I think that's where 50's should stay though.

yea its not for highways and shit- just around town cruising/campus cruising- i already have had an r6 and loved it- but i sold it to fund car/schooling- im just looking for something to tinker with and beat the shit out of-

i dont really want to zip up over 100 mph.  If you wipe on a scooter it could be pretty bad, but you'll probably be alrite.  If you go down doing 100+ they'll just toss you in with the roadkill.
I just like it for cruising around town.

And it's not that I don't trust myself, it's other people that worry me.

Meh sometimes, I dumped at around 80 and walked away but I was very lucky in my crash as I just slid down the shoulder to a stop after bouncing off the guard rail.

Other people will smash you with their car no matter what your sitting on.

I guess the shit to do is more spread out where I'm at as well so I'm cruising backroads not city streets. It wouldn't be as fun to rip the backroads on a ruckus but I guess if I lived in the city or on a campus I might be interested in one.

Well a ninja 250 isn't a scooter its a motorcycle....

I agree though, I very nearly bought one of those yamaha shadow cruiser style bikes, and if I had I probably wouldn't even ride it on the freeway. I'd just ride it around town looking like a badass lol. Unfortunately riding around town on a scooter does not make you look like a badass. I'd probably tow it up to malibu and shit to and just ride around the PCH too. But yeah I barely trust the LA freeways in a car fuck doing it on a motorcycle. Too many potholes and awful drivers.

.....always jealous when I'm sitting in traffic and a bike shoots by in between lanes though, assholes.

Ive been checking craigslist for a while now.  Through the fall and winter they were always $1000 for ones in decent condition.  Now that it's getting warmer they seem to be more in the $1400-1500 range.  Maybe this fall i'll try to get one cheap

went to the dealer ust to testride it- and the owner has a rediculous 150 cc swap with nitrous and a bunch of shit- stock they are by no means fast- but they're fun- the owners on the other hand fucking layed a nasty burnout down and then proceeded to do a wheelie- im definetly getting a used one- i would use it about 40 miles a day between school and work- it was exactly what i was looking for- a little scooter that i can modify to have fun with-

Why would you dump so much into a ruckus when you could get a nice used motorcycle for that price? Even with insurance and all that, a motorcycle would be just as affordable. I see the convenience of a scooter, but a motorcycle would give you so much more.

all of you trying to justify it by saying a motorcycle is more dangerous than a scooter, but then you want to modify the scooter. the modified scooter will be less safe at the high speeds the mods allow you to do, and rob you of mileage. just get the motorcycle. cheaper, safer, better looking. though the ruckus is awesome looking, compared to other scooters anyway.
