i think i know what you are talking about. like the ground / rail is on a downward slope and instead of jumping onto it off a setup you just stand sideways next to it and step onto it and slide down?
i saw a video where a kid did that, seemed to work out ok, he had no space in his yard too. there is no way i could find that video though, i must have seen it months ago. it would probably work.
i think if you have a raised platform you will be ok. ^^^if you are having a problem with one foot leaving before the other (which you shouldn't, i have steped on to down rails and haven't had this problem,) you could make like a flat down, but have the flat part be like a foot long and step onto that then push off.
how much space do you have for your drop in // raised platform because i have an idea where you could turn the platform into kind of a drop in.
you could also try doing this. i don't know how much space you have so i don't know if it would work but its basically what andy parry did in tc episode 2 (first season) - thats where i got the idea. but you could make stairs, ladder (depending on the height if you need them) on the side of it, put your skis on it sideways, and just jump 90 and hit it like a mini drop in.
